After we fed him dinner, I heard him yelp so I went to check on him. When I petted him he started yelping. Then he started vomiting. What is happening?

he might be sick, like we get. it's okay, u don't have to take him to the vet unless this continues regulary. or he ate rat poison, or people food. the best guess is that he overate his food. this happens to my dog sometimes too.

It depends on what you fed the dog. If you fed it people food then it probably got too much salt and it cause the dog abdominal cramps causing the dog to vomit and yelp. If it was dog food then it might have eat'n something earlier that it upseting it.

Keep a close eye on the dog make sure it is drinking water and making poo's. If it stops then take it to a vet.

Did you give him something with bones??? If a dog vomits once, it is usually no big deal, but sounds like he is in pain. If he continues to vomit or yelp in pain take him to the VET!

It could be that it ate too much, or too quickly..lots of reasons. I'd just keep an eye on the dog and see if the behavior changes, before taking it to the vet. Make sure it has plenty of water.

this may not be too serious if it only happens once. maybe he ate a little grass or something on his walk tht day. maybe another family member snuck him some human food tht upset his stomach. who knows? but if it happens two more times in the next couple weeks then take him to a vet. i know vet visits can be pricey but we all want to keep our best friend healthy right?

He might have a blockage. I had a whippet that got ahold of one of those rope bones. SHe ingested some of the rope and it wrapped around her intestines. She threw up and then was in obvious pain. She required emergency surgery.

Has your dog passed feces recently? If not, I would get him to the vet ASAP!!

Might have eaten too much, might have eaten something that he shouldn't have, might have been overly excited. I have a dog who throws up in stressful times and one that is constently eating things that he shouldn't be eating and throwing up. I wouldn't worry unless it happens again.
