This is for eating after Bariatric Surgery. Bread is reintroduces about 4 or 5 weeks down the line. The wedsites say toast is tolerated better than bread. Why would that be?

Toast is considered a 'binding' food. It is recommended after bariatric surgery for the same reason your mom probably recommended it when you were sick as a kid....toast is more easily digested than untoasted bread....you are less likely to throw it up or to suffer diarrhea from it.

Bread, Pasta and rice , when eaten form a thick pasty mucous that can block your stoma , the opening to your new pouch. Some never tolerate these foods, others are able to eat tiny portions by tiny bites. I could not tolerate toast and still don't. Wasau multi grain crackers are well tolerated, and Melba toast too, but I like Wasau better.
