If you are asking this because of how you feel - my heart truely goes out to you... if its for a thesis - I don't know if my input will be of much use to you, but....
1st of all unless there is anything you can do to improve the situation try not to think about it (dwelling on something you can't change is a waste of energy)!!!
2nd Allow yourself time to cry / feel sorry for yourself - sometimes it helps to 'let it all out'.
3rd Find someone to talk it through with (family, friend, a stranger - it doesn't matter) 'a trouble shared' and all that (sometimes another viewpoint is all thats needed)...
4th (and maybe most importantly) try to focus on the good things in you life - no matter how bad things are there's always something good..
Try to stay happy - and don't be afraid to let people help you!!
Wishes n Dreams XxX

The best way to stop feeling sorry for yourself, and to bleed the pain out of your system is to volunteer for a nonprofit organization. As soon as you are involved with people, whose problems are enormous, you will forget your problems, or at least put them into perspective.
Imagine working in a food pantry, where mothers come to load up on food items, in order to feed her family. Or try working at a Salvation Army shelter, where men come off the street, and into a warm environment where they can get a hot meal and a cot for the night.
Surrounding yourself with those less fortunate than you, will put your issues into perspective and you will be counting your blessings. Besides, volunteering is very rewarding.

You have to realize that the problems you are having aren't nearly as bad as the issues people are having around you. Look at the things you are grateful for, and embrace it. I am constantly having trouble with family, and it eases the hurt when I talk to my buds. It is the best treatement you could get when support and a listener is behind you. My friends also help me to see that they have serious problems at home, school or wherever that are even worse than mine. We confide in eachother, and together we dull the pain of the tribulation around us.

Volunteer at a shelter for homeless or an animal shelter. Volunteer at a hospital or nursing home. Get out amoung people and do something to help them. It will make you and them feel good. Animal rescue is great too, they can't speak for themselves. It worked for me! Give it a try! Best of luck!

First you have to know that feeling sorry for yourself gets you no where except to depression. Try to vocus on others needs and find things to do to help them. When you help others, you can't help but give yourself help also. AND PRAY FOR PEACE IN YOUR HEART
Good Luck

First, I decide that I will feel bad for 10 minutes.
Then I decide I will not wallow.
I take a shower, then I hit the track and run laps (10 should do it), I go home and take a nap.
I begin again.

Go to God, He can help you through anything, he has me, He is the answer and the only answer really, try and you'll see, you just have to experience him to know how merciful and kind and loving he is, I mean what do you have to lose, your all ready in a slump so why not go to someone who can get you out of it and help you, day or night, better than just a friend, because he doesnt know how to let you down and he will never leave you or forsake you, so just ask him to come in to your heart and pour out your needs and fears to him he will hear and he will answer! Trust me, and I will pray that you find him too and in doing so find all the happiness that you can possibly have in this world. God Bless You!

What helps redirect my thinking is to write down all the things I am grateful for. I keep writing until I feel better.
