that is negative, how long will that stay on and what about items that are paid and or not paid yet. Is it the same time frame for paid and unpaid accounts. When it does fall off, does it go off the credit report entirely?

7 years but make sure to check your credit report. I had to request something be removed well after the 7 year mark.

The Fair Credit Reporting Act, a Federal Law, requires most negative information to be removed after 7 years. Paid or unpaid does not matter under this law. Bankruptcies can stay on the report for up to 10 years.

you must be proactive in changing the items on your credit report.
They do not disappear by themselves. By law, you can request a copy of your credit report from each of the major credit reporting agencies. Analyze each report. If there is information that is false or a mistake, write a letter immediately. If there are negatives that are true, write them a letter explaining the circumstances, and contact the originator of the complaint and try to get them to remove it from the reporting agencies.
A negative comment will stay on your report for years, depending on state laws.

Depending on state law, it could be as long as 20 years or as short as 7 years.

What you should do is to write Esperian and ask them how to file a claim to remove a derogatory item on your credit report. They do have a website where you can file claims, however I could only get access from the site through Freecreditreport.com.

In any case it takes about a month and you will receive a response from them indicating whether the derogatory was removed or not.

you won't be able to get rid of the closed charges. they'll live to inform the tale your document continuously. yet your own loan requests being grew to change into down has to do with the quantity of balances on your own loan charges and your credit (the better the more effective perfect). in case you ignored any funds, which will influence your score negatively. maximum in all chance, the reason you're grew to change into down is because: a million. Your stability to credit line ratio is in basic terms too extreme - (you're on the brink of maxed out on your credit lines) 2. You ignored some funds or have overdue funds over 30 days. 3. you've a below-average credit document. (once you've decrease than 650, you're in a riskier class). 4. Your debt to income ratio is extreme (you've too a lot debt compared on your income)

negative things for 7 years unless you live in Mississippi then it will fall off after 3 years. Calling the negative acts and clearing up the mess will greatly improve your credit rating resulting in lower insurance rates, lower interest on car and mtg loans.
