Not looking for general guidelines, but rather a specific family favorite combination that can be used every, or every other, week. Nothing too cheap (no ramen, no mac n cheese) Nothing too expensive (no steak, no roast beef). Also, recipes are okay but not needed. Thank you!

Here are some examples:

Meatloaf, Mashed Potatoes, and Carrots.
Spaghetti, Marinara Sauce, and Garlic Bread.
Chicken Fried Rice with eggs and vegetables added.
Taco's with Beef or Chicken, cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, salsa, and shells or tortillas.
Salad of many vegetables, hard-boiled eggs, chicken, and dressing.

Turkey Breast is a great idea.

You seem to be cooking for a meat, veggie, and potato group.

A turkey breast makes for a nice dinner the first time, great sandwiches the second time around, and super casserole option on what's ever left.

It only takes about 45 minutes longer to make just a turkey breast in the oven, than cooking 4 chicken breasts in the same way.

Mashed potatoes, gravy in a jar, veggies from frozen, and you have a very nice meal. After dinner, slice some nice pieces for sandwiches, pop into a glad storage bag. The rest can be mixed with some canned or bottled gravy, stir in a can of carrots, and a can of potatoes, and 1 bag of gravy mix, and you have turkey casserole. Serve over rice, biscuits, or mashed potatoes, whichever your family prefers.

Keep an eye out for sales, from time to time it can be a great bargain. Usually sold frozen, it takes about 2 days for me in the fridge to thaw and be ready to cook.

If I may add, I recommend turkey breast because there is very little waste, and it's a nice change from just chicken and beef suppers.

I did make an awesome sweet & sour pork in the sloow cooker last night!

Get a pork tenderloin and put in on low along with about a cup of O.J. and 1/2 bottle of Lawry's ginger sesame sauce, some chopped up red onions and chopped up red bell pepper. Let cook for about 4 hrs. Then add some more ginger sesame sauce and about 1/2 cup of O.J. 5 hours into it, pour some sweet and sour sauce (from the store) and some canned pineapple (I used the small chunks, you can use whatever size you want). Let it cook for another hour on low. Put some Minute Rice in the microwave and then serve the pork and the sauce over the rice. Of course, have veggies on the side. YUM-O!!! I really don't have exact measurements for it and it also matters the size of your tenderloin - but a good cook can always eyeball it! Also the temp of your slow cooker might vary.

Have funn!!

It is cheap for an expensive meal, but expensive for a cheap meal. . . buy shrimp ( the large kind ), amount of shrimp needed depends on family size. Put about 3 tablespoons to 5 tablespoons of butter in a cooking pan. And put some mushrooms in the butter. Next, ( after de-tailing the shrimp ) add the shrimp to the butter. stir frequently. Cover the shrimp with a thin layer of garlic powder and Cajun's Choice, stirring frequently, after 7- 10 minutes of cooking the shrimp put on low heat and let sit for 5- 10 minutes. . .enjoy! ! Warning: shrimp is considered seafood for those allergic, and this is a spicy meal.

A chicken salad is good, Extremely healthy as only the skin of chicken contains fat and then you get a good source of greens from the salad (: There's also things like pasta, veggie burgers or sausages with potatoes and some vegetables, You can always look on the Change 4 Life website they have loads of ideas :) Good luck :) xxx

I have to work late every Thursday so that is "Hobo Joe" night......Take 1 to 2 lbs hamburger & form 4 patties. Sprinkle with your favorite steak seasoning. Tear off 4 pieces of foil & place a patty in the center of each. Slice some onion, green pepper, mushrooms, potatoes & baby carrots. Let each person add what they like to their packet, then drizzle with worchester & a pat of butter. Fold into a pouch & use a sharpie to mark your packet. Bake @ 350 for about 30 - 40 minutes. Serve with tossed salad & fresh bread......These can be made in the morning or the night before & a phone call from the office will get them into the oven.......They are wonderful!!

Irish stew is great and warming.
Use a pressure cooker to quickly cook off 1/3 of a bag of dried mixed soup pulses/lentils with 1 litre of lamb stock.
You can pick up a cheap piece of leg or shoulder or use any left over lamb. Add this with seasoning and potatoes, carrots, parsnip, swede and onions to the pressure cooker with some more stock. Return lid and cook for a further 20 minutes. Turn of gas and leave to stand. Leave lid on of a further 30 minutes and hey presto. This is a dish that every one will want to return for a second portion.

One of my family's favorite meals is all cooked in the oven. I make meat loaf, baked potatoes, baked beans, baked appples and sometimes even scalloped corn. Then before taking food out of oven I put some buttered older bread on a pan and make a substitue Texas toast.

Pork Roast slow cooked with garlic & onions in a crock pot.

Once cooked shred and either add bbq sauce and serve on rolls with salad or fried potatoes
or add taco seasoning and serve on tortillas with beans & rice or salad.
