Being Anorexic is a disease. One that is very hard to cure and quite frankly leads to death more often than the general public hears about.
Starving yourself to lose weight can shut down normal body functions, because your body does not get the proper nutrition it needs. Hair can start to grow where you do not want it (face, chest, back, all over) it will make skin sag and hang (not so nice for the breasts-even after you are on the mend) You can lose hair where you do want it, your head, in patches and thinning so you are bald. Mental changes can occur making you less intelligent (really) and dental problems arise, would you like to loose your teeth? Life long health problems can occur with kidneys, reproductive system(want children some day?) thyroid, metabolism, bone structure (osteoporosis) and many more. The one that it can damage the most, is your heart and the arteries that go to and from it. Heart palpitations, dizziness, weakness, labored breathing and then it can quit. Then one would not have to worry about wanting to lose weight anymore.
If you have a hard time losing weight by eating small balanced meals at least 3 times per day and exercise, why not try weight watchers? The have kick start programs to keep you motivated. Stay healthy and good luck. :)

One word: DON'T.
First of all, and this may be more than you want/need to know, but anorexia is more than just not eating. It's a whole slew of control issues, depression, self-disgust, fear, paranoia, sadness, isolation, etc. Why would anyone *choose* to take that on?
As far as not eating to lose weight: It's not healthy and it's not effective. The scale might say you're lighter, but what you lose first is water weight. What you lose next is muscle mass, which means you lose strength and energy. Brain power is also diminished because you're depriving your body and mind of the energy it needs to function. Blood sugar will drop, which means you're also in danger of passing out. In public. And being carted off to the nearest emergency room and given fluids which will bring back those water weight pounds you lost in the first place.
Diet pills don't work. They will make your heart race, which I suppose distracts you from the fact that you're really hungry, but look at the boxes - they all say that they need to be taken in conjunction WITH DIET AND EXERCISE. In other words, popping them to lose weight without doing anything else just doesn't work.
Throw away your scale, buy clothes that fit at Goodwill ('cause they're cheap), and concentrate on eating healthy amounts of healthy foods. If you think you might have an eating disorder, TELL SOMEONE. Parents, clergy, teacher, friend, parents of friends, neighbors - it doesn't matter. Don't waste time trying to have a deadly illness, and don't waste time getting help with it if you already have it. Being happy and healthy is SO much better than watching the numbers on the scale go down.
Good luck.

You can't decide to be anorexic its considered a mental illness. The people who have anorexia dont know they're doing anything wrong. They're like alcoholics, they will absolutely insist they're fine while they're laying in a hospital bed dying (I've seen it).
Starving yourself as a means of dieting isnt the greatest idea either. Your body is smarter than that, the less you eat the more your metabolism slows down. Better to exercise and count and cut calories over a longer time frame to get weight loss.
Best luck.

Being Anorexic isn't something you should decide to do .. it's a very serious eating disorder. There are many medical risks associated with anorexia. They include: shrunken bones, mineral loss, low body temperature, irregular heartbeat, permanent failure of normal growth, development of osteoporosis and bulimia nervosa.
Continued use of laxatives is harmful to the body. It wears out the bowel muscle (which means you have no control over when you poop!!) and causes it to decrease in function. Some laxatives contain harsh substances that may be reabsorbed into your system.

Yes, of course you will lose weight if you don't eat but you will sooner or later die if you stop eating also.
Please don't think about doing that. You will get more problems than you asked for. It's not worth your health to lose weight like that. Cut back on the amount you eat at each sitting and start walking more, that will help take off a little extra weight.

Here's what can happen: grave malnutrition and fluid loss. This can cause severe health problems for you because it louses up your body chemistry big time; and it could lead to death.
How about eating a normal healthy diet and doing some exercise. That's a much better way to lose weight.

Its not a choice. Im a recovering anorexic and it is hell. I almost died. i was hospitalized and my heart was being eaten away from starvation. Anorexia is a disease. It CAN kill you. you start on a diet and then u continue to restrict until u cannot eat and u waste away. Its terrible. Eat a healthy balanced diet and exercise a lot, but not obsessively.

This is not a diet.
If you really do start being anorexic its extremely hard to stop and start living normally again. It spirals out of control.
This is not healthy behavior its a twisted perception.

It could kill you. It's an illness and an addiction that is extremely hard to kick. This is like saying, "I've heroin isn't healthy but it might make me skinny so I'll try it". Don't. Just don't. Exercise and watching what you eat will work for you. You'll be healthier, happier and yes, skinnier, if you work out and eat better.

It's really, really unhealthy and can cause serious problems in your future. If you want to lose weight that bad, then eat healthier and eat in smaller quantities, and excercise more, but losing weight isn't worth that kind of pain.
