That's when we need God the most, Honey! I wrote this after I too, was devastated in my life....hope it helps you....
THROUGH THE STORM
When darkness surrounds me and all seems so bleak,
during sorrow and heartache, when my faith is weak;
there is One who sustains me, who knows how I feel;
in His Presence there’s comfort that’s ever so real.
His Heart breaks with mine for the pain that’s within;
Because all of my suffering truly hurts Him.
His tears mix with mine as He holds me so tight;
He wants me to lean on His power and His might.
Though often I fail Him and lash out in pain
His forgiveness floods through me like a soft gentle rain.
He walks me through storms; through trials thick and thin,
and when I am lonely He welcomes me in.
He teaches me daily, as I journey through life,
to trust in His Love in the midst of my strife;
‘cause there’s a time coming, that glorious Day,
when we’ll meet face to face, and my tears wipe away!

Only God can truly comfort you in a time like this, though surely good friends can help as well. I recommend keeping in mind the account of the disciples going across the sea with Jesus in Mark, chapter 4. A fierce storm came up and waves were threatening to sink the ship. The disciples panicked and went to Jesus...but Jesus was sleeping. He then quickly calmed the storm and rebuked the disciples for not having more faith. You see, He had previously told them, "Lets go over to the other side." If Jesus makes a promise, it doesnt matter how bad the circumstances might look...He cannot lie. Yet the disciples trusted more in the circumstances that were before them than they did the word of God.
God has said to you..."be not afraid...do not let your heart be troubled....I will take you to where I am...." He said,"In the world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer, because I have overcome the world!" What will you trust in...your circumstances...or the word of the living God!
it may also help you to consider what some other godly individuals suffered with in the area of depressiona nd despair so you know you are not alone....I recommend Psalm 31 (king David) and Lamentations 3! Also, of course Psalm 23 is a good one to give you peace...
God Bless you and I will pray for you.....

Honey, how do you "know" things are going to get worse. You said Potentially devastating news. Hold your peace. That means keep your head. Do you really trust God? Times like this prove if you do or don't. Romans 8:28. Pray Pray Pray Pray.

Reading scriptures doesn't usually help me because I'm too upset to concentrate......
So I cry for a few hours. Sometimes I turn to my husband and cry and hold him for awhile. I also talk to him a bit. That usually helps me feel a little better. But eventually I become upset again, so I cry some more. Then the crying gets to be too much. It takes me a very long while to decide that I will pray to Heavenly Father for help. But I do feel a little better when I tell Heavenly Father of my problems and heartaches. That's what I do.
There is no magic solution to suddenly feel better. And I don't know if what I say will help you. But I do hope that something someone says will help you to cope.

Sunny,
Your idea of what a Christian walk is, seems disabled by the way you think. Your past questions have typically been indicating depression, and I think that you are fulfilling your own prophecy.
You expect disaster.
That's the way we learn somtimes. But there comes a time when we face the coming problem in faith. I don't see you doing that.
But here, what does the Bible say about God and trouble?
Psalms 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Well, is He or isn't He? The choice is yours.
Are you going to chose to trust in this promise?
Or are you going to focus on the problem?
It's your decision.

You ask for a Christian answer and the only one is hope in Christ. It may not help much now to tell you this but God often puts us in spots like this to test us and to turn us to Him. We are so self-sufficient that we often only do lip service to our Heavenly Father. In this way He takes away all other hope of help and makes us look to Him. Just one example was Israel when they were in Egypt. God took them out and led them up against the sea and Pharaoh was chasing them with his army. Humanly speaking it looked real bad for them and they thought they would be slaughtered by Pharaoh and they cried out to Moses in despair. Moses told them something we all should remember
"Do not be afraid, Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord".
God is able to do way more than we know. He is in control. One day you will look back as a Christian and marvel at the ways of God.

I had recently answered the question to Christians: What do you do when life seems hopeless. This is the response I gave him and I feel like it may help you to. This is the ultimate truth of being a Christian. He chose my response as the best answer, so I must have said something that helped. I will pray for you. Hit the link below and read my resonse.

Honestly, if I were you...I would pray to my Heavenly Father for help to get through the trial. Have faith that he will sustain you. Have you ever heard the "Footprints" poem. It talks about a person going through trials. He saw footprints in the sand, two pair. Then he only saw one pair and asked the Lord why he wasn't there when he needed him. The Lord answered and said "I was carrying you then." It's a great poem.
anyways, I find comfort in knowing that our Savior knows us each personally and knows exactly what we are going through. The atonement was not collective, it was personal for each one of us. He knows our strengths, our weaknesses, our dreams, our hopes, our trials and sorrows. He knows everything about us and is the only one who can sustain us totally in our times of need.
Good luck and peace be unto you.

Pray, and pray hard. Read the Psalms.
Read Phillipians 4:6-8 and claim it and hold on to the Prince of Peace.

Maybe Christ is using this tragedy to bring you and others closer to HIm. Read about the life of Job...it may offer some encouragement.
I am sorry fro whatever you are going through, but know that the one person who is always there for you and is waiting for you to cling to HIm is Jesus Christ. Cry out to Him and He will be there to help you through all of your pain. It's not going to be necessarily easy, but God will never put anything in yor path that you will not be able to handle!
Good luck and God bless you! Please come back and say how everything is going! I am praying for u
