You need to be responsible and babysit. Where ever the neighbor is going it is probably important to them. You can't make a committment and try to back out of it the last minute. That's not fair to them when the are sure they have a babysitter and are continuing with their plans. Next time say what you mean.

Oh no, it's another of those "I shouldn't have done that," moments. I... Umm... I have no clue. Make it look like someone's not home and tell them that something came up and you have to go, maybe arrange a babysitter who can get there quickly and take over after a few minutes, but just remember; someday YOU may need someone to babysit, and your neighbor really doesn't want to so they go to Yahoo! Answers to find a way out of it.

If you already said yes, the right thing to do is bite the bullet and go through with it. It's only for a few hours. Just remember for next time to say no.

Make the most of it. Go to the zoo or a kid's movie or something fun.

Your kidding me perfect.. you actual do no longer be responsive to what to do.. if some previous freak tried to rape you and is coming to babysit you should needless to say get the hell out of there and tell somebody else.. consistent with hazard a instructor? Non-Rapist Neighbour? Police? yet once you fairly dont choose to do this then your mendacity and it became in easy terms a lame placed up..

First of all! when you promised someone something it is rude to break it off. How would you feel if someone did the same to you. These people are relying on you!
Second of all If you do not want to do it then why did you say "YES" to them in the first place.

You are stuck Sister!!
Now you learn that, you are not going to promise someone something that you can comitt to the next time..

If you already said you would babysit then you should go through with it, if you really didn't want to you should have told your neighbor that you had prior plans and would not be able to, I think you should stick with your word and don't cancel.

well, you can't go back on it now, your stuck. I know that used to happen to me all the time. Next time she asks tell her that you have to check your schedule that you have quite a few appointments that you will be going to and you will get back to her. Then if you don't feel like it get back to her and say: I thought that I had something to do on that day and I'm glad I checked before telling you yes,I'm sorry but this is very important and I can't cancel. Always try to be one step ahead.

If you back out leaving the neighbor just an hour to find a replacement sitter you'll be acting irresponsibly and she probably won't ask you ever again.

You should keep your word. Your neighbor is counting on you. Afterwards, write down your "good excuses" and post them by your phone for next time. Just don't let your neighbor see them!
