I have had 4 children - all were born past their due dates. It is understandable to want the baby to come out NOW, but let your baby and your body handle the labor and delivery process on their own timetable and naturally. It is less stress on your body and your baby to let things run their course. Induction often produces very hard, intense contractions. If your doctor is a good doctor, he/she will not induce your labor unless there is some complication to warrant it.

My doctor wouldn't induce unless I was a week overdue. Your baby will be healthier if you let it come when he/she is ready. i tried lot's of things to make the process go along quicker, but not sure if any of it worked- like sex, walking, driving over a bumpy road... lol They even wiped my membranes- which they might to you if you go a little longer. that didn't do anything- a week later (i was 41 weeks) I was supposed to be induced on a Friday at 9;30am... well my water broke at 1:30am that same morning!

Also, if they induce you-it will be a LOT more painful... they used Pitocin on me to speed it along-or try to, and it hurt sooo bad, my epidural wore off the last 4 hrs, and my baby just wasn't descending... so I ended up c-section. C-section is also higher chances if you are induced.

Give it a little more time....goodluck and congrats!

they don't want to induce unless necessary. I was 10 days late with my daughter. I was scheduled to be induced on a Monday morn and Saturday my labor started.

There is not anything you can really tell him/her that will cause them to induce you. You must be showing symptoms of distress either in yourself or your baby. PLEASE do not do anything foolish that will cause you or the baby any harm. [Or be a ways past your due date, then they will induce.]

Hang in there,...I KNOW the last few weeks are beyond miserable, I have had three children. But, believe it or not, it will be over before you know it!

Good luck to you! :)

You can try doing squats to help your cervix dilate and efface. Squat and hold the squat until you feel the pressure increase a lot then push. Good luck.

The longer the baby remains in the womb, it is good for this development. Just wait and enjoy!
