Politics should absolutely be separate from religion.
But, it is almost impossible to remove religion from politics because to do so, you would have to remove religion from individual politicians. Since politicians are people, this cannot be done across the board.

Well first of all lets go back a couple centuries to the time, Revelations was written, Ceasar Nero was in power and her tarred christians and burrned them. The Number of the Anti Christ which was 666, translate it back to Arameic, you will get, Ceasar Nero. The dates of Revelations have come and gone, we've been living in the "end times" for over a millenia.
As for church and state, seperate them and keep a titanum plated door between the two. While the framers of the Constitutions did base is on abrahamic religious law, they also had the first amendment to keep one religion as being recognized as a state religion. The way it should be.

Since many people claim a particular religion but never live by the basic doctrines of that particular religion, lets trade the word religion for moral code.
No matter what a person's moral code is, no matter what religion it lines up with, it is going to affect every decision they make. A person is not often going to make a decision that goes against the very core of thier belief system.
You cannot keep"religion" or any particular morla code out of politics because no matter who is in office, the decisions made are going to be based on their fundamental beliefs.
Even a person's ability to be swayed by money, bribes, blackmail, or public opinion, as often happens in politics are an example of how deeply rooted or not their beliefs are.
I believe that Christians should be involved in politics- it is our right, we have to live in this world and it is up to us to have a say in what our children are taught and what they are exposed to.
I tend to believe that many of tadays pliticians are not ' for the people' but 'for the money' Many decisions are made that are against popular opinion and pretty soon issues that should be up for vote will be up for the highest bidder.
Christians, though knowing this is just a temporary existence, need to be good stewards of what God has given us and do what we can to make an impact on the world around us.

Definately.
If government can hold principles based upon religion it's ultimately disastrous because it's possible for them to be cornered into a situation where they have to side with a religion. When the government endorses one religion over another, it really instigates society.
Nobody has the right to say that one religion is better or has more truth than another. This only angers others and is even worse when government does it.

a christian in government..how absurd...the church without politics....i think not...look at the catholics...they elect a pope to rule and control them,he can punish,or grant absolution..the vatican is alot like washington,,the pope has armed guards to protect him, like the christian version of th C.I.A.....what happened to faith o holy one....wont the lord protect the holiest of the holies????look i am a born again christian, and love the lord with all my heart, but the church or the government are both saturated with evil..the real church is inside..and our government is so corrupt that a true man of God would want no part of it..false prophets just as it says in revelations,,in the church,on the streets,in government, law inforcement....everywhere!!im not a paranoid lunatic or a radical but i see every day what has become of our government and the church, both are breeding grounds for degenerates..priests and polititians sodimizing young boys, embezeling money..ect..i personally will have nothing to do with either.i will continue to worship my God in my home with my family and pray that in this lifetime at least one honest, decent man will atempt the impossible and try to create an honest government that we all can respect and be proud of.....and then we woke up...p.s.as far as steering the course of the world.....leave that to God.hes been doing it a long time and already knows the outcome...God bless you and yours, and have a great day.

consistently endure in ideas how fortunate you're to stay immediately in u . s . a . after splendid courtroom had guts to do away with formalized prayer from public colleges. they did no longer do away with prayer, however the da-facto compelled participation in prayers; plus you reside in a usa that helps you to invite question you asked. you will on no account separate faith from politics for 3 significant motives: that's a significant area of very great form of individuals's psychic, non secular chief different than for extremely few particularly non secular are huge skill participant in politics; and the two prepared faith and government are interior the organisation of controlling human beings. that's controlling that quest for skill that desires pointed out and controlled. think of human beings ought to keep on with the extra effective factors of all religions around over the centuries, yet no longer compelled to maintain on with any faith.

Religion happens to be hot now because Bush in part won on it the last election. Dems are picking it up because they are politicians. I think we need religion because faith promotes (or is supposed to promote) peace, and peace is what we should all ultimately strive for. I understand bible prophesy, but I also think the bible challenges us to do good, which is why there are some pretty ugly stories.

WOW! I thought is was just me that this bothered. I think that the policies should be able to stand on their own and that the manipulative tactics of wrapping everything up in some religious idea is insulting. People should talk about this more.

Politics tries to be.
People are people.
Now, let's say YOU are a Christian and YOU are in government and a BILL comes through to make NO FAULT DIVORCE, how do you vote? Do you vote as Jesus would want AGAINST IT? Do you vote your conscience? Do you vote as your constituants want from stay polls that save 60% favors NO FAULT DIVORCE.
A bill comes up for the DEATH PENALITY for prisoners. Do you vote your RELIGION, Thou Shalt Not Kill, do you vote your conscience? Do you vote as your people want and 80% of them want the death penalty.
To SEPARATE religion from state then YOU as a CHRISTIAN would have to vote in a manner CONTRARY to what GOD and JESUS has told you to support and do.
The only alternative is to pass a law saying ONLY ATHEISTS can run for polticial office!
