I don't question God, because I don't believe in God, but I do question the notion of absolute free will. I think it's a lot easier to exercise free if you're someone whose grown up in a supportive, loving family, leading a privileged life. For someone who has grown up in poverty, or abuse, violence may be a way of life... so deeply embedded in their psychology that the scope of their choices is significantly diminished. I suppose they still have free will, but less so than for someone growing up without any these challenges. It's free will by degrees which seems like an unfair system given that it's not an even playing field... some people have their feet put to the fire, others get a free ride (by comparison). Then there's serious mental illness which obliterates free will altogether... what was God's plan for those people?

Man is sinful and we can't get away from that. Free will is a dangerous thing. History has shown this. Natural man (without the Holy Spirit) cannot choose the things of God. Natural man always has a selfish motivation behind his choice. The Holy Spirit led man now has the choice to do as God wills. Yet, the new man is still tainted with sin. This tension between the natural and new man is a healthy struggle. The struggle brings us daily to our savior, Jesus Christ.

You're absolutely right. Man is responsible for it all.
If man hand't eaten the apple, then maybe God might have some blame in the matter as our creator, but God told man what not to do, man did it anyway and God said
Well, you're soooo smart, you're on your own!
And God kicked us out of the house and made us live on the street in an era when there was no Welfare.
And this is how we turned out.
And that's why I want to take God's name off the US dollar, we're giving him a very bad rap!

They almost always happen because preachers are telling the perpetrators that it is Gods will, that the atrocities are Holy and God will bless them for it. Christians, Muslims, Hindus every religion does this. So if God is real it is all on his orders. Yes it is Gods direct responsibility. Did he ever answer those praying not to be brutally killed. Again "No" so the promise made by God to answer and save those who pray is a crock of **** as well.
The free will statement is trash, God does not intervene and allows this because he does not exist.

I think you've really hit on something here. We do have free will, and look where it gets us. By our nature we make decisions to sin like this, and Nazism gives us a glimpse into mankind's total depravity and how tainted we are with sin. Therefore there is no way I would trust in my own abilities to be the one to choose God. He needs to be the one to choose me, because like you said, it's crazy if I try to take free will on my own shoulders.

Your right on, people for some reason want to blame God for every thing that happens in our world, and can't get it through their thick sculls that God will not interfere with mans will.

I'm with you on this one! God gave us the GIFT of free will to choose to life a life glorifying Him, or to do our own thing. Unfortunately, too often humans choose to follow the evil desires of their heart instead of following Christ. So to blame human actions on God seems incredibly ridiculous to me

I allow my children free will, but still intervene to help them when they find themselves in need.
Even when they are fully grown up I shall try to be there for them if they need me.
And I certainly will not stand by when I see them bleeding and begging for my help.
And I shall not cause them 20 years of horrible diseases and pain, in order to test their love for me,
Nor ask them to sacrifice their children to me to test their obedience.
I do not believe in the evil God you describe. God is the forces of nature

As you can see you will get strange answers and a lot of why God lets things happen.
In this forum they do not understand, so it is easier and more relevant to them to mock what they disregard.
Sad.

Yes...it is crazy.
Why do people question God when something bad happens to them, but don't thank him when something good happens?
