You're not required to buy anyone a gift. Does he buy you a Christmas gift? If not, you're one hundred percent off the hook.

But, if he's going to be there when your family opens up Christmas gifts, it'd be nice if someone bought him a pair of socks or something.

That's what I do if I know there will be a guest around when we open our presents on Christmas Day. Just a little something - some chocolate, a scented candle, some nice soap, etc.... It does not have to be expensive.

I have a brother in law that annoys me greatly. One year I gave him a huge metal container of popcorn, but it was left over from the year before. Hey, it was unopened, and with all of those preservatives I'm sure it'll taste just as horrible ten Christmases from now.

So back to your question. Assuming he's there when you open your presents, not everyone has to buy him a gift. So if you do not care for him, and he doesn't care for you, why exchange gifts?

If you've exchanged gifts in the past, then you can just tell your sister that money is tight for you this year, and you won't be buying Christmas gifts except for your close family members. She should be able to pass that on to her boyfriend.

Buying stuff at Christmas gets way out of hand, in my opinion.

If he is the father I'm not sure what I would do, but since he isn't even family I think that it would be enough to give a card for them all. I would give gifts to your sister and nephew though. :) Personally, I think he's abusive and is just going to get worse. Cat

gifts come from the heart, you do not have to give him anything if you do not feel like giving him any thing a gift shows someone how much you care about them and if you do not care that much for him then not getting him a gift is a good way to go not even lottery tickets because if one of them happens to be the jackpot and he is a big of jerk and loser you feel he is then your sister will not see any of they money now think about it

I would give him a pass. He hasn't been the best person in the world and may not appreciate your gift anyway.

Will your sister be upset with you if you do not buy him a gift?

Does he buy you a gift?

You aren't required to buy a gift for anyone you don't want to buy for. Gift giving should be a joy and from the heart. Don't worry about it anymore.

YES! Perfect get some of the white painters tape a water bottle rip the tape up and put it on the bottle put some of the old rustic liquid on the tape and it looks like a old antique vase! We made it for our parents and get a real or a fake rose,or flower! Hope this helps!

If he did anything to hurt your nephew, You might want to be alittle sarcastic & get him pre paid anger management courses. But that might ruin your familys Christmas Dinner. BUT you could get your nephew a new TV & announce in front of your entire family that you got him this because whats his name broke it. That's what I would do, embarras him, but every familys response is different

I don't think you have to give anyone a gift if they are harming or abusing someone you love. But if he is just being a jerk, knit him scarf.

he is your sisters b/f and you do not owe him the time of day much less a gift. i would not give him anything until he repairs the tv and starts acting like a gentleman and treats your sister like she is a ladie.
