Natwest have got rid of the piggy bank to save offending Muslims. Does this actually offend you? We have been told in the UK that we may have to call our christmas lights 'holiday lights' because christmas offends Muslims. Does christmas offend you? A passport photo of a 5 year old girl showing her shoulders was banned and had to be retaken incase in offended Muslims. Would this actually offend you? If these things do offend you, what makes you think you have the right to try and change them anyway as this is NOT a Muslim country! You should respect our way of life. Nobody will ever stop me celebrating christmas, putting up lights and trees and calling it what I like.

This was not meant to be a 'rant' by the way, it was just a series of question with a comment on the end. Sorry if it was a bit long!

One more thing, to 'Sherzade', this is based on fact, not fiction! Have you not seen the protests in the UK with the angry Muslim people? Apparently not. Yes, a lot of this is to do with government, but with more Muslims getting into parliment, how does it's the same thing!

Well said Claire. It's a numbers game I'm afraid. As the number of muslims in our "multi-cultural society" increases then the balance of power between the cultures will change. Eventually Islamic culture may come to dominate our society. This is the nature of multi-culturalism.
We can only resist Islamification by asserting OUR values. That means telling everyone that we have cultural traditions and values too and we must make sure that these remain the dominant norm in our country.

A passport photo of a 5 year old girl showing her shoulders was banned and had to be retaken incase in offended Muslims. Would this actually offend you?

No tht doesnt offend me thts jusp plain crazy my little cousin wears sleevless shirts shorts and skirts (she's 2) i dont see the problem with it. besides she wasnt a muslim so no big deal tht she didnt wear full leeves or wateva.

Your question raises a very good point. None of the muslims that I know are offended by christmas or piggy-banks.

The people who want these banned are extremists who want to turn britain into an islamic state with shariah law (and a handful of politically correct white middle class social workers & politicians). A multi-racial country is quite acceptable, but a multicultural country just is not possible - there are too many differences between cultures for them to co-exist in peace following their own respective lifestyles.

I am incensed by 'muslim's answer. We have a saying here "when in rome - do as the romans do". I don't think it's racist to say that if you don't like the british way of life, then go elsewhere. If I went into mecca, betting and drinking alcohol, with a mini-skirted girl on my arm, we'd probably both be stoned to death - which is exactly why I have no intention of going there. Now kindly show your host nation the same respect. If you don't like it, what are you doing here???

My guess would be that you're here claiming benefits and abusing the free speech that you would be denied in any islamic state.

I must admit I haven't heard about these things being changed coz they apparently offend Muslims, but from these answers it doesn't seem like they r offended. I have a some Muslim friends who have nothing against Christmas or get offended. One of my Muslim friends sent me a Christmas card last year and I sent him one a few days ago wishing him a happy Eid. I think maybe its the Media or Government blowing it out of proportion.

I have Muslim relatives who call Christmas what it is. Christmas. Also the city in which they lives had one of those annual CandyCane lane things, where a whole street puts up Christmas lights and decoration. Last year their house was on thate chosen street and they participated in the festivities just as well, and they didn't have to. Not all Muslims may be this way but for the majority, they just really don't care.

Interesting questions. As a lifelong anglophile, I find it very interesting but at the same time annoying that the British government and those who influence it have taken up a defense that was not asked for and, from the replies you got, far from needed. Maybe you should be writing to your MP to promote a change of the inane policy the government has. The grandeur of Britain is a result of the traditions of the British. No one should change them. You wouldn't change things at your private home because you have a boarder with different ideas.

That stuff does not offend me. Those decisions were taken by high ranking non Muslims who ASSUME that Muslims would be offended by: Piggy Banks (Most kids have them, including me when I was a child) Christmas Lights (Most Muslims go mad for the Christmas sales) Passport photo (isn't that up to the parents?)

Have you ever heard a Muslim say they are offended by Christmas lights????

I'm a bit annoyed now.

I hadn't heard of most of these things before although I had heard a lot of other things. Thank God there are people like you around, and I know that there are more and more since the recent controversy with Jack Straw and also the BA employee who has been told to remove her cross.

I agree with you. This is not a Muslim country although they are trying hard to make it one. They are aliens in our midst and if we have to tolerate them they should accept our customs. They don't have to eat pork or show their bodies off if they don't want to, but they shouldn't try to stop us living our lives in the way we've always done.

As for Christmas, it is Christmas - not winter holiday or xmas. We have Eid, Diwali and other festivals thrust down our throats, so no-one is going to get rid of Christmas. It used to worry me but, looking at public opinion at the moment, I now believe that the public wouldn't allow it to happen. I am going to make an extra special effort for Christmas this year. There will be more decorations than ever and I will call it Christmas until the day I die. I would go to jail in order to retain that right.

why i feel like u hate all muslims because of that?? I ( as a muslim) never thought of all of these things!! I respect any person who respects me ( regardless if he/she is a christian or jewish) !! i have never thought about christmas as a bad thing and i have never asked anyone to ban it!! All of those u mentioned above are the people's rights and i have no right to ask anybody to ban something that actually is not hurting me in anyway!! I can never stop u from celebrating christmas or putting lights on the tress even if i don't have the same beliefs of u !!

I think most Muslims are offended by the way that they have been portrayed in the media. I think our country is going stupid with this idea of not offending Muslims and introducing new laws etc. Most Muslims that I know are contended with being allowed to live how they want to live.

Actually No.
It doesn't offend me and most of the Muslims I know, as long as I can have my way of living ( which I think I have) I don't want anyone to change their way of living.
As a result I don't get offended by christmas light and your celebrating.
Wish you very nice christmas.
