How can a person who is not living by the teachings of Jesus be a Christian? It is not possible. At Matt. 7:21, Jesus said: "Not everyone saying to me, `Lord, Lord,` will enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but the one DOING the will of my Father who is in the heavens will." To be a practicing Christian means it is a way of life. You don't stop. There is no such thing as an nonpracticing "Christian". Either you are Christian or you're not.

A practicing Christian is someone who makes Christianity a part of their life. An nonpracticing Christian is someone who just calls them self a Christian but otherwise doesn't do anything.

THOSE THAT FOLLOW THE 10 COMMANDMENTS AND STRIVE TO BE HOLY AS JESUS IS. THESE ARE THE PRACTISING CHRISTIANS. THE NON OR UN PRACTISING CHRISTIANS ARE THE ONES THAT ARE IN CHURCH REGULARLY, NOT NECESSARILY WEEKLY BUT ALMOST, AND DO NOT LIVE BY THE HOLY "GUIDELINES" THEY ARE THE UN OR NON PRACTISING ONES. BOTTOM LINE IS THAT THERE IS NO BETTER PLACE FOR THEM. THE SEEDS THAT GET PLANTED WILL SOME DAY TAKE ROOT AND SPROUT TO FRUITITION.
GOD BLESS

Yes, there are both.

An active or practicing Christian reads the word of God consistently. They also obey what it tells them to live like and act like and do. They also attend worship services because they enjoy going. they also fellowship with other Christians.

A non- practicing Christian could be that way for many reasons. but generally they are someone who has accepted Jesus Christ into their hearts, but never really read and started walking or obeying God and his word. If you read the story of Lot in the book of Genesis , you will see that Lot believed in God, but he didnt take that belief any further. His wife and daughters knew of God, but had no real knowledge of him. His whole life was spent with no glory to God, but God called him righteous because in his heart he did believe, he just never matured.

I used to be. I was raised christian, but I didn't buy into the dogma or go to church. I would have told you I was a christian a few years ago, then I actually thought about it.

Obviously, Christians have to "practice" because they aren't very good at it. Jesus told them not to pray in public, Matthew 6:5-6, "And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily, I say unto you they have their reward. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret will reward thee openly." Yet Christians are making a huge issue of rejecting Jesus' will and making public Prayer a legal requirement, especially the compulsory participation of non-Christians in fundamentalist Christian religious services. They call it "voluntary prayer", but "voluntary prayer" was never banned, it was the Public Tax Funded Schools allowing Teachers to openly abuse non-Christian children, I was one of those children, by the way, that was banned.

I'm not sure it takes practice to be a Christian, you are either trying to grow in your faith or you aren't.
