There are a lot of ways to put in hair extensions, it appears. My friend used to do everyone's hair and the method she used for "at-home" is with bonding. This is a hair glue that can be messy but with the right application, can adhere to hair on the scalp and stay in for a while (until wet).

You can find hair bonding at most beauty shops but certainly at Sally Beauty Supply store. This supply store might be located where you live (if not, you can check out their website online - the last link) and see if you can order through the web.

I was in one of their stores recently for an old fashioned "hot comb" and found that they carry hair for weaving, braiding, etc. I was quite surprised, as it had been only known for basic supplies for beauty shops.

Otherwise, I think the sewing method is an old fashioned favorite for at home extensions that stay put quite well, I'm told.

I know you can do the clip on hair at home. I have seen plenty of hair dressers put in their own weave, but unless you got that kind of skill, don't try it. I don't like the clip on hair, but you can try it and see how you like it.
