My son refuses to eat anything that is not moosh. I have tried many different kinds of table foods, and he clamps his little mouth shut every time. If I'm crafty enough to get a little in there, it gets spit right out! I'm running out of ideas.

9 Months is too early for any table foods besides mashed potatoes and gravy.
He needs more time to get the feel for new textures.

My daughter is 10 months and the trick is to just keep offering without any pressure behind it. If you get into a battle of the wills, he has another reason to not want to. Make sure you include him at the family dinner table and he sees that other people are eating good stuff that isn't mush. Offer him food off your plate. You don't even need to play it up, just put some on the tray and let him explore it. You might need to throw away a lot of food in the process but he'll get there. Offer a variety and eventually he'll find something he likes. I promise. :-D

These situations are a bit hard. Just don't make it seem like it's okay for him to do that. Discipline him when necessary. Tell him to eat it. If he refuses, discipline him (time outs are not good disciplining skills). What your problem is is that your son isn't comfortable with solid food. Just give him little by little, and if he keeps spitting it out, it's okay. It's progress. Just think "I remember when I couldn't get him to eat anything. Now I can get him to eat things, but he spits it out." Give him delicious but nutritious foods. Then he'll think it tastes better than mush and he'll eat it.

Perhaps he is just not ready for table foods yet? If he is pushing the food out with his tongue, then he still might have that reflex.

There isn't anything wrong with continuing to mush it up for him. Don't be in a hurry for him to grow up :) Some babies just start table foods a little later then others.

My daughter who is now 14 months, refused mush food at about 6 months when her teeth started coming. The only mush food she will eat is icecream, or pudding. She doesn't even like my oatmeal anymore. she is on complete solid food. Now just to get her off of her bottle at bed time. Which is the only time she is allowed one.

My son did a similar component. I merely stored giving him point 2 till he ultimately have been given the carry of it. attempt a spoonful of point 2 then a small spoonful of point 3. he will catch on quickly. that's what I did and now he's eating actual foodstuff each and all of the time. merely wait and see. you additionally can attempt those Gerber fruit and veggie puffs. they're style of like cereal, yet they dissolve almost without delay interior the mouth. that extremely helped lots! They flavor good too!

Give him some time- it took my son a while to adjust. He loved cheerios around that time though. he's now a year, and we still have a hard time getting him to eat certain things like bread... and sometimes he hates the feel of things, so we have to feed it to him. He also loves graham crackers. if he won't eat any of that yet, I'd wait a couple of months and see what happens.

Food should be offered, not pushed. You are going to create an eating disorder. Give him what he likes, as long as it is a balanced diet. When he is ready for table food, he will tell you he wants some of yours. Then it will be a privilege, like eating is supposed to be.

My kids use to love pastina with alittle chicken broth or butter. Try giving him the yolk of the egg (soft boiled), cooked spinach until very mushy (my daughter ate almost the whole bag), baked sweet potato (again..cooked until mushy). Babies are funny that way and once he takes it mushy, try giving it to him a little more solid in between.
