We love this one.
Crusty Macaroni and Cheese
3 tablespoons butter
12 ounces extra-sharp cheddar cheese, coarsely grated
12 ounces American cheese or cheddar cheese, coarsely grated
1 pound elbow pasta, boiled in salted water until just tender, drained, and rinsed under cold water
1/8 teaspoon cayenne (optional)
Salt
2/3 cup whole milk.
Heat oven to 375 degrees. Use one tablespoon butter to thickly grease a 9-by-13-inch baking dish. Combine grated cheeses and set aside two heaping cups for topping.
In a large bowl, toss together the pasta, cheeses, cayenne (if using) and salt to taste. Place in prepared pan and evenly pour milk over surface. Sprinkle reserved cheese on top, dot with remaining butter and bake, uncovered, 45 minutes. Raise heat to 400 degrees and bake 15 to 20 minutes more, until crusty on top and bottom.

I do everything myself, not out of a box. If you want some nice baked macaroni and cheese, here is a simple recipe:
1 pkg. elbow macaroni (8 oz)
2 cups grated sharp cheddar cheese
1/2 cup butter
1/3 cup flour
2 cups milk
salt/pepper
Preheat over to 375 degrees
Cook macaroni until tender which is usually about 10 - 12 minutes.
In a shallow baking dish, alternate macaroni with cheese.
Melt butter in saucepan, blend in flour, gradually stir in milk, season. Bring to boiling, stirring for about 1 minute. Pour sauce over mac and cheese in the baking dish. Top with cheddar cheese. Bake 15 - 20 minutes until cheese is melted and browned.
It is so good, and simple, really! It isn't difficult, and it taste a lot better than anything out of a box. Go for it girl!

if you do it by the box, then please follow the directions. IF you make from scratch, then here goes:
Grate 1 cup of cheese
Boil 6 cups of water
Add 1 cup of noodles (follow directions on package for cooking time as it varies by noodle thickness)
After they are cooked, strain noodles
before returning noodles to pan, put 1/4 butter/margarine in the pan.
return the noodles to the pan
place the pan on the burner after you have turned it to med-low. stir the noodle/butter mixture until the butter has melted
add 1/4 cup of milk
stir whole mixture until it becomes hot.
Take your grated cheese and add a small amount to the noodles
stir vigorously until the cheese is melted throughout the noodles
slowly add more and more cheese, melting thoroughly each time before adding more, until you've added all the cheese.
for a little spice, add a table spoon of ranch dressing (Swear to god it tastes good!)

Read the box or you just boil the water on the cook top, and then add the noodles, once the noodles become tender. turn off the cook top, and put the noodles in a strainer to strain the water out. then add the cheese packet, and mix it up. Let it cool and enjoy.

i always prefer home made mac and cheese. boil your macaroni and drain it. Then u need to make a white sauce. This is so easy, just 2 cups of milk, 1 cup of flour, salt peper, and its ready. just make sure you bring the milk to boil and then mix your flour and water until smooth and add it to the boiling milk. Make sure u stir it in until thick. add to your macaroni, throw in some grated cheddar, Parmesan and mix it all to gether, on the top of the casserole sprinkle cheese on it and put in the oven for 20 min and let bake! its sooo good!
