I would like to know in a practical manner what I can do to actively seek the greater gifts of the Holy Spirit in a daily manner. I certainly have an eager desire for these gifts to be manifested in my ministry as I share the Gospel with the unreached, so that God can glorify Himself and confirm His word and son Jesus Christ. But, I just don't know how to practically go about seeking and receiving these gifts. I would be very grateful for any direction and assistance you could give me.

We shouldn't go out seeking gifts like they are superpowers. We are simply to seek to do God's will.

These gifts have stopped, however go back to Acts 2:38 and you will read how the Holy Spirit may be gotten.

PRAY. Pray pray pray. We're each given specific spiritual gifts, but we have to pray for God to use them through us. Don't pray for any specific ones, just pray that He uses you. Befor you even know it, your spiritual gifts will be working through you every day. As I have learned from experience, others will be able to notice your gifts before you do, so ask your friend as well. Also, it may be a good idea to take a spiritual gift test to see what your strongest gifts might be. As 1 Corinthians says, God may give you new spiritual gifts for different situations, such as suddenly speaking in tongues. God bless!

Without faith it is impossible to please Him, for to come to God one must first believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. Hebrews 11:6. Then keep the commandments of God, all ten of them, including the fourth (keep the Sabbath Day Holy), then fervently pray for the Holy Spirit, and He will lead you into all Truth. God bless you.

One way of looking at is that they are gifts that have already been given to us and it is up to us to draw them out and use them.

One thought would be to focus for a time on one gift (or set, if they are closely related) and really meditate on it - what is that gift? What can it look like in the world? Why is it a gift? What benefit can it bring? Allow yourself to become aware of times when you can bring this gift in your own capacity (not all gifts are given equally) to those around you.

In reading I Corin. 12, we are given different gifts. I don't know that you'd have to seek the gift. Wouldn't we all know our gifts if we know ourselves? I don't speak in tongues, and there is no need to seek it.

Try listening to Ray Comfort's True and False Conversion. It doesn't take long to listen to the whole message, and he talks about fruits of the spirit.

1) ask for forgiveness and a cleansed heart...
2) forgive others
3) start praying for these gifts...

When you seek Him earnestly, you will find Him...
