Do you want a city or massive sprawl? Answer that question and you will know. CA is way too cold now to consider any beach type activities so it comes down to city versus city.

Go to Newjork, the best place to be.. You can ride the subways and feed pigeons and hand out bottles of Thunderbird to the street bums.
