Almost all Christians acknowledge that the exact day of Christ's birth is not known. They guestimated a day, and chose it for the observance. Some since then have reguestimated and come up with other days...more power to them. Christmas is an observance but it is not a required one in the Christian faith, so take it or leave it, no consequence.

Some think Christmas was instituted to replace some pagan observance. Maybe so. Others think it reveals a "merge" with the pagans. Obviously not true, since the tenants of Chritianity are unchanged from day 1, but hey, believe whatever you want.

Ultimately, it's not important what day it is observed on or if it is even not observed at all.

Just link Lincoln's Birthday being celebrated on a Friday instead of the Sunday it actually falls on as an excuse to have a 3-day weekend...

Christmas is just a new (ish) celebration of Jesus Christ, symbolizing the gift of life he gave and setting aside a time for families to get together and celebrate the goodness of God, and to be generous to the poor and lonely. So not knowing the right day for His birthday doesn't preclude us from obvserving it and celebrating it.

Lord Bless...

The truth is Christmas is not Jesus's birthday. Christmas came about with the celebration of winter solstice when during the 12 days at the start of winter anything you did was not punished by the king. So instead of raping , pillaging and getting drunk the Christians took those 12 days for worship of Christ the King.
Because they were put to death the rest of the year if caught worshipping any other time...

1st answer is correct.
It has been determined from several sources including the last Pope, that Jesus birth probably occurred the later part of November, or early October. Sheep grazing in the fields. The manger unheated.
There are a lot of interesting things about the christmass stories.
Wise men traveling hundreds of miles overnight, and still taking time to visit a King to discuss the where a bouts of the infant.

Basically it's nothing more now than a store holiday, no disrespect intended.......you did ask.

Christmas isn't really Jesus' birthday, it's just the day we celebrate his birth. Christmas was initially the Winter Solstice, a pagan holiday. However, it was adopted as the birth of Jesus because pagans believed their sun gods were born on that day, and it made conversion to Christianity a much smoother transition if they were allowed to celebrate their holidays, feasts, and festivals in a Christian manner.

No its not even that month. I forget the real date. But not too much that most Christians understand are the actual teachings of Christ either. (such as though shall not Kill yet they support animal slaughter by eating meat that is killing. Jesus was a vegetarian too. There is ample proof of that in You mean that's in the Bible by Stephen Rosen. If you want the real understanding of Jesus Christ go to www.essene.org The Christian Essenes have all of the lost teachings which many where hidden in the Vatican. Christ was an Essene not a Jew as some think. The Essenes probably have the actual date of his birth and so much more.

It was placed on December 25th in order to put it around the same time as Yule, a Pagan holiday that most Christmas traditions are taken from. It was an attempt to convert Pagans.

Scripture points to Jesus being born sometime in spring.

No it's not. Jesus was born some time in the summer like June or July. In history the church was so focused on converting that they adopted some pagan holidays to make it easier for some people to go to church. The tree means something like the beginning of the new year or something. Just like the bunny for Easter originally represented fertility.

No, Jesus was not born anytime around Dec. 25. That was the date of a pagan tradition that the Christians co-opted to get pagans to become Christians. The whole holiday is just pagan with Jesus thrown in there.

Theologically, Christmas is the celebration of God's incarnation as a human being. We experience it in the form of the birth of a baby boy, Jesus.

I am pretty positive that it (December 25 or even January 6) is not the actual date of birth. It is an anniversary of remembrance and celebration.

i remember hearing some debate regarding the exact day but i think his real birthday is in either march or may(according to what i was hearing), it was a show i watched sometime ago. however DEC 25Th has been adopted as the day of his birth. it should still be treated as such and has some link to paganism, despite the past link to pagan celebration it is now treated as a purely christian day devoted to the birth of our Savior Jesus.
