We have a 2 1/2 year old and a 10 month old and we are taking them to a church festival instead of out trick or treating. They still get to dress up and see other kids. But, the atmosphere is more fun, younger kids and not so many scary costumes. The older one will get candy and the younger one doesn't know what she's missing. They'll both have fun and be home by bedtime.

Yes you can take her trick or treating. If she is your only child I would recommend only hitting a few houses, maybe 5 or 6. She can't eat chocolate or hard candy yet so she doesn't need to get much. Even if she is walking I would recommend taking a stroller as they get heavy to carry really quickly. It might also be fun to find a function at a church to go to over the weekend. If you have an older child take her along with you, but pay attention to how she is acting and make sure she isn't getting over stimulated or scared. I am taking my son who is 10 1/2 months along with my 6 year old and a friend's kids. I plan to eat the candy he gets, but I know he will have a lot of fun.

That is the age my son was his first time. If she is easily scared I would not or only go to houses of people you know that wont scare her. My son is fearless so we went everywhere. He got so much that we had to take a few trips to the truck to empty his bucket. He loved it and I think it made it less scary the next year. Trick or treating has always been and still is a family thing. My son is about to be 15 and my daughter is 10 and I plan on going out with them again this year. I will enjoy it as long as they do. Start young - have fun.

I think it is all up to the child in these situations, you never want to frighten your child or anthing like that, but if the other children around " and some adults" arnt scareing her then all should be ok. At 11 months the child shouldn't really be getting candy but more for you I always say. Besdies a sucker sometimes might be ok if you watch her closely. Also, building your childs imagination early is always good. It also helps her/him to know that there are differances with ppl and things. It also will help her to not be frightened later when she can actually perticipate in the fun. Dress her/him warmly, maybe a costume that is like a sleeper, and have fun. Great mommy baby time.

Hell yeah. Why not? I am taking my daughter trick or treating with her older brother who is 6 years old and she is only 10 months old.Just put her in a stroller and take a blanket for her. Also go early and you don't have to go alot of places.

up to you, I wouldn't but only because they won't understand what is going on yet. Put them in front of the door, to watch all the costumes of the people trick or treating (unless she gets scared). Don't forget to put her in a costume, there sooooo cute.
I have 3 girls, Our first never went out at that age, the others maybe got to go on a little joy ride in the stroller while the older ones went door to door. she might like that
up to you though, i have no problem with it.
Good Luck

Sure, why not? If you really don't want to, she won't know any better, but she'll probably have a lot of fun. I'm taking my 15 month old, and I can't wait! I got her the cutest little cow costume last year on clearance and I've been waiting ever since! Enjoy this time with her, my oldest is 13 now. It goes by so fast!

At that age, I would suggest just a few stops, and a very short time. Take her to relatives' houses, or to the mall where the shops are giving out candy. She probably won't care for the candy, but will enjoy the attention, with the costume! You can eat the candy for her, LOL.

Well, I know everyone has their own opinion about this! I feel like under 3 is too young! I think a child needs to be walking good and be able to understand what is going on....Otherwise; what is the point? Who wants to see some overzealous mother dragging a crabby , crying baby...who doesn't know what is going on? I think it's cruel!

When my daughter was a baby I put a home-made yarn wig on her and said she was a Cabbage Patch Kid as I brought her out with her older brothers. If there are other children to go Trick or Treating with, put a wig on her and some blush on her nose and bring her. (You probably don't live in my neighborhood, but I keep a bunch of infant-friendly treats for when the tiniest people show up.)
Otherwise, you could give her a couple of Halloween-y toys (they sell stuffed pumpkins), put a cute hat of some kind on her, give her some kind of different little treats, and bring her to the door with you when you give out candy.
There are special little things you can do around the house to create a little "special occasion" atmosphere - so in answer to your question, its up to you. If she doesn't have siblings, and since she won't know what its all about anyway, I probably wouldn't take her out. She'd probably be happier to see the children who come to the door.
Another option is take her out to relatives and friends for a quick visit. Its not as convenient as door-to-door, but you know they'll be happy to see her and probably not compelled to throw something like Skittles into her bag.
