I received a gift certificate to the Inn at Little Washington, near DC. Is the food as good as they say? I assume the dress is formal. Any suggestions from those who have been there? Thanks

It's a wonderful restaurant. The food is outstanding, the service is very very good, and it is a lovely setting. No jeans, no sneakers. Suits for the gentlemen and nice dresses or pantsuits for the ladies. It's definitely a dress-up restaurant. If they're serving butterscotch souffle for dessert, don't miss it. It's out of this world. They have an outstanding wine selection, too. Also allow a little more time than you might expect to get there as the community around the restaurant has really grown but the roads haven't.

Recently this place was rated as one of the top ten most expensive restaurants in the country. I believe they said average with 1 drink for 1 was about $150. Here is a link which includes reviews: http://www.slashfood.com/2006/10/21/most-expensive-restaurants-in-the-us-2006/

Been there once, and yes it was that good.

No tux needed, but it's not the place to go in jeans.

Blazer for the guys, and whatever goes with that for the ladies.
