You've been dating a week, and known each other a month? I'm thinkin' it's not love...and if you aren't really that into him then cut him loose...he deserves the opportunity to meet someone who will be crazy about him, just as you do.

Don't "settle"

Kinda a hard one. I mean I think of girls being that foward but not guys. Best bet would be to talk to him. Ask him whats up. It is always good to set boundies like. You are not ready to move so fast. You just started dating and the love is coming so fast. Explain to him you like him but you dont like him like that yet. Let him you you are feeling him and maybe if you slow things down a bit you could catch up. Some guys are fast and some are slow. You need to communicate your feelings about the feeling. Explain to him how you think he sounds desperate but dont be so hard on him about it let him know it is just how other guys acted. Never accuse him. The best thing in a relationship is communication and unless he knows how you feel he will not beable to stop it.

He obviously likes you a lot and you dont like him so much. Which is fair enough. I reckon he will calm down in a while once he's gotten over the 'honeymoon' period but if he doesnt i think u should just talk to him and tell him that although you do like him u need your space as well. If he really does love you he will accept that and should give u the space u need.

I don't think desperate is the word. Maybe clingy. Maybe he enjoys your company alot and finds it hard to keep up a barrier for prolonging his emotions. OR he could just be looking to get in your pants and thinks saying those 3 words is the key. But you are not over reacting.

That would put me off slightly!

But to be fair to him, he must really like you and because its a new relationship, there are lots of intense feelings at the moment. Give him a little time and I'm sure things will even out.

Easy answer... male infatuation. When a guy becomes interested, he goes on the conquest. He'll stay on the path until he achieves his goal, whatever that might be, sex, marriage, whatever. If you're not interested, he'll eventually get the message and give up, unless you string him along, or you could just tell him what you told us and maybe he'll chill.

It sounds like he is a bit desperate, he might be afraid of losing you. Although it sounds like your relationship is extremely new and saying "I love you" seems to be way too quick.

some guys when they are young think the more you talk to a girl the better.

they also equate the more talk with a girl the more she is into you and the more she will let him do.

Don't be surprised if on your next date he goes for second, third and tries to steal home!

sounds like his hormones are ragging and he needs to release some pressure , most likely he might be a great guy after he gets a little testosterone release

he might be a little desperate, but maybe he fell for you really hard, that does happen you know, sometimes you just feel it. maybe you havent fell for him like he has for you but take his feelings into consideration, just let him know that he is moving to fast and that we should just get to know each other better before we move this fast.
