It sounds like the kitten is just being a kitten. However you can check his paws. Put one of the kittens front paws on the back of your hand(not your Pam) if it feels hot then get him to the Vet. If it just feels warm like his sides then he is just acting like the baby he is. Also usually a cat will nape after eating. Look at the kitten while it is sleeping if the ears are moving then the kitten isn't sleeping. Try playing with your kitten with string on a stick, or a feather and pay attention to how he is playing. If he seems alert and playful than he is fine. If he seems uninterested and just goes and lay down you might want to take him to the Vet. I don't know where you got your kitten but it is always wise to take a new pet to the Vet for a check up. Most kittens born to cats that go out side can have worms at birth. The parasites take all the energy from your pet. That will make them sleep a lot because they don't have any strength and are tired all the time. Also if there is anything wrong with your kitten then the Vet will pick up on it. The kitten should have a series of shots just like any puppy. So I would strongly suggest you take your kitten to the Vet...Hope all is well with Kitty...

Kittens sleep most of the day. For that matter, so do cats. Since you've never had a cat before please buy yourself a good cat care book. And I heartily recommend that you subscribe to, or buy, a monthly magazine such as Cat Fancy for one year. You'd be amazed at what you can learn in that year. I wish I had done that when I first became a cat owner. I fell in love with cats immediately but for years was ignorant of their needs and how to meet them....I got rid of some cats for no other reason than I didn't know how to respond to some of their personalities or characteristics. Enjoy your cat; I hope the two of you have a long and happy life together.

A growing kitten needs a lot of t.TLC. It is a bit abnormal for a kitten to be sleeping a lot becuase they have natural energy to play all the time, and they are like never sleepy. Remember to feed her/him very well, love him/her, and let him/her do things he/she wants to do, only if it isn't dangerous. Sometimes kittens are tired because they do a lot of things in that day. You just got a kitten, so don't be worried yet and just love it while it's there, because it will go fast. I remember when I was in 1st grade when I got my puppy, and now she's 7...it goes that quickly.

You know how babies sleep a lot? that's how the kitten is, for a few hours, or maybe minutes, he will wake up and play..and then get some more rest!
It's normal! don't worry!
