The HPT kit says that it is 99% accurate. Maybe its correct, but just wanted to know how reliable it is as I still don't have my usual period signs and symptoms. My period is already 3 days delayed. The digital HPT test that I took gave me a result " not pregnant", do I have to test again how long do I need to wait?
what should my next step be?

They are very accurate. Most doctors use these same tests to verify. However, they take a month after conception or possibly even a little longer to be able to give accurate results.

They are testing your urine for hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) which basically is given off by your body to "keep" yourself pregnant and the allow the egg to grow. The fetus actually produces this by itself late in pregnancy, which is why mothers at the end of their term show negative results on a pregnancy test!

Take into account if you exercise a lot, are under any stress, or taking birth control. These factors and other can cause delayed or missed periods. To be sure, a doctors visit is in order though!

The accuracy is measured by amount of Hcg per so much blood. They tend to be 99% accurate within a certain time frame. That is so many days after a missed pregnancy. (First Response measures for the least amount of the hormone. It's my favorite as it predicted my son! tee hee hee!) You can test again as soon as you want, but I recommend waiting a few days to see if your period is delayed. At six days past the due date, assuming you were correct in the date, most of the HPTs should test correctly. Good luck, and once you get a positive, make an appointment with your OB/GYN.

I would make a doctor's appt. If anything they can give you a blood test, or possibly figure out if something is more wrong. Good luck to you. Maybe try another test with first morning urine. Has the most HPT in it. I actually took mine in the afternoon though, 2 days before I missed and it came up positive. They are pretty darned effective.

These test are generally accurate. They are designed to detect HCG or Human chorionic gonodotropin (pregnancy hormones) in the urine. It is more accurate to use your first morning urine because the urine has sat overnight in the bladder. Give it a couple of days and try again if you do not begin your period. A blood test is more accurate.

Wait another 2-3 days and test again and then call your doctor or midwife. Good luck.
