No. Some of the cardinals were burbling about it and leaked a story that the pope was going to say something of the sort but they seemed to have forgotten to tell the pope about it because he never said a Dickie bird about it when the time came.

The rule is still that stillborn children don't get to go to heaven, or anyone else who hasn't been baptised.

Odd that. In Ireland they've been saying for years that a stillborn child is 'born an angel'. They're supposed to be catholic and should know better. Religion never can get it's story straight.

1) They have not done away with Limbo, they are only considering it.

2) Limbo IS NOT Purgatory.

3) Purgatory IS NOT Limbo.

4) Limbo is a hypothesis that all babies who die without Baptism are sent to a place that isn't Heaven or Hell.

5) Purgatory is the Church Dogma (which means it can NEVER be changed) that states that those Christians who die and are bound for Heaven but arn't quite ready for it yet go to Purgatory where they are purged of the remains of their sin nature.

Vatican II had a lot of flaws.....we got many priests, bishops and even popes leading the faithfull astray...so be carefull who you choose as your pastor. Its not unusual that a layman or laywoman can hold on to truths the clergy do away with. How can thousands of years in the belief of limbo be done away within a matter of years? Somthing is not right.

That makes me sad; so where do all the pagan babies go these days? Seems like there's more than ever before, and you can't just dump 'em out all over the place. Hey, in 1963 I was really good at dancing under the limbo stick!

Yes, they are CONSIDERING doing away with it....debating at the moment. - And can you just imagine - a room full of old men sitting around debating about the souls of dead babies from a 1000 years ago. I cannot fathom a bigger waste of time, energy or resources on earth.......
And one other point. Doing away with limbo proves that the religion is not wise - it only changes when concerte evidence MAKES IT change.

well it isn't a biblical teaching anyway. nowhere in the bible is there a mention of a place that fits the descripton of limbo or purgatory. finally the catholic church isn't teaching something false. now they just have to get rid of the other false doctrines to go with it

limbo was not doctrine and non doctrinal matters can change with revelation and better understanding within the church. all that the catholic church teaches within doctrine is strongly based on scripture. church disciplines may change but not doctrine. research the church before before making assumptions.
