I'm Alexandrian Wiccan, and traditionally we use red, black, and white to represent the Mother, Maiden, and Crone aspects of the goddess, and green to represent the God. But my dad's coven is CM, and they usually use just undyed beeswax candles. Personally, I don't really think it matters--just use something that strikes true for you, for whatever symbolism makes sense.

Red, black, white and silver are the most commonly used colors for the Goddess.
Green and gold are the most common God colors, though red and orange are often used.
I usually use silver and gold, or two plain or white candles. White can substitute any color.
You can also simply tie a colored ribbon or piece of wool around a plain or white candle. I find that works great.

Different colors represent different powers and principalities.
What are you trying to achieve?
Magic must be VERY SPECIFIC. You can wish for money,
and your favorite Aunt Matilda will CROAK, and leave you
some money. It's not PLAY!
Did you know the Bible says often to observe the New Moon?
Do any Wiccans know why?
Myself, I feel magical tools are crutches, and using magic
creates retribution and bad karma.

We use statues and symbols crafted out of clay or wood. We burn tea light candles (various colors, usually corresponding to the season) as a daily offering to our deities.

Use colors that represent to YOU the energies you want to invoke, what aspects of the deities you are appealing to. Magic works best when you use personal meanings.

Gods and Godesses do not care about the color of candles you choose. They are beyond such mundane, mortal, self-involvement.
