Soda has nothing to do with memory loss....it does have a bad effect on bones, the carbonic acid takes calcium from the bones. A major reason why growing children should be limited in their consumption....cause of bone problems later.

Diet soda has been linked to the loss of brain cells, as well as seizures. I've never heard of that resulting in memory loss, whether it was diet or not. I doubt that drinking water exclusively will cause you not to have memory loss. If that is all you're trying to do to retain memory, I'm sure that's not enough. Far more important, in my book, to retain your memory is to make sure that you get enough rest at night. Lack of sleep definitely affects not only what you're able to remember, and just your energy level overall.

actually the myth was about the artificial sweetner used in soda. and no that is a myth in normal standards. you would have to drink more than 30 cans of soda per day and then the memory loss is questionable. but if you drink 30 cans of soda per day memory loss will be the least of your worries. you would probably die from fluid intoxication first.

If I drink too much, I get a soar throat and a seriously runny nose. Almost like the flu. A lot meaning a gallon a day (I drink a lot). It usually takes two days or so to clear up. IF I drink an equivilant of water, I am fine, so it isn;t too much water, plus, I am very very active.
There are tons of studies, but in my opinion, none of them are conclusive. So my experience says yes, it is bad.
