Since marines are not classified as soldiers but a higher entity, should they be held to a higher standard when convicted of brutally killing and raping innocent Iraqi’s? I am seeing a trend where marines think they are better than everybody else and think they can kill innocent civilians and rape little girls. They think JUST because they are the almighty marines, they will NOT be classified as pedophiles and rape defenseless little girls. It seems that marines a predominantly committing these atrocious crimes!!!

WTF!!! Most Marines are hard working dedicated individuals who would fight to the death for the fredoms you have you ingrate. Yeah sure a few marines went and did a bad thing. So do some mail-men, cops, teachers, bums, politicians, etc. You can't judge a whole group by the actions of a few.

"Marines not classified as soldiers"? Of course they are - they come under the umbrella of the Navy as apposed to the Army and they fiercely defend that, under international military law they are classed as soldiers. As for being "a higher entity" They're bloody good but then so are the Paras and the SAS (and the American's Rangers and Delta Force) and they sure as hell would take issue with being seen as inferior. The Marines (Royal Marine Commandos and US Marines alike) tell the world they are the best because they have paid for the right to say it, rightly or wrongly, in blood protecting a wall you do not understand, do not appriciate and complain about whilst you shelter behind it.

Yes, terrible crimes have been committed and those responsable should be brought to justice. If crimes such as these have been committed, the guilty should be exposed, punished and disgraced. But please, try to show a little respect for the majority that are just people trying to make the best of a bad situation.

All members of the US Armed Forces, Marines included, are subject to the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Therefore, those who commited such atrocities, like murder and rape, would recieve the exact same punishment beit they were Marines, Army Rangers, Navy SEALs, Airmen, Coasties, or whatever. Yes, even the elite units still fall under the UCMJ, doesn't matter if you're Delta, DEV-GRU, Recon, or PJ. You commit a crime, you get a trial, and if found guilty, you get punished. Plain and simple.
On a side note, historically, Marines have always blashpemous accusations thrown against them by their enemies. In WWII, the Japanese Army told its soldiers that only convicted murderers, rapists and the criminally insane were allowed in the USMC. The German Army in WWI called the Marines "Devil Dogs" and were told that Marines were trained to fight since childhood. Adolf Hitler even had a contingency plan in case he had to fight against the US Marines. If Hitler saw a single Marine squad, his plan was to lock himself in a bunker, drink some poison, then shoot himself and pray that he died before the angry Marines found the man responsible for interrupting their pub crawl. Sadly enough, the USMC was fighting in the Pacific and the war in Europe went on years longer than it should have.

The Marines have committed some crimes....as have the Army, Air Force, and the Navy. You can't generalize all Marines as bad for what a few did. That's like saying the judge in Wisconsin today who got picked up on 18 felony counts makes all judges bad.

I understand what you are saying. I am a Vietnam vet and have seen the same crap over there. I do NOT believe any soldier is better than anyone else and SHOULD be prosecuted to fullest extent of military law. Murder and rape is what it is in any land, in any sense of the crime and should NOT go unpunished. Watch the news and continue your vigilance on this. I believe we should call upon our state representatives and address that issue with them. If you know for sure that a crime has been committed by a soldier, report the crime. These crime that are perpetrated by soldiers, gives the military a black mark. I could go on but I hope this has helped you. Peace!!!

I don't beleive one can talk until they have been on the frontlines. You can't judge an entire group on a few demented peoples actions, and you can't beleive everything you see on tv. My husband was in the war, as a MARINE, and saw none of this raping and murdering innocent that you speak of, like you even really know what is going on over there. Marines are first to fight. My husbands units rushed into a cemetary full of insurgents, guns blazing, while the army stood back and watched. So I say to you, OORAH MARINE CORPS! SEMPER FI and all the moto sh*t

people, other than marines, do the same thing right here. I doubt they are mostly Marines. I agree they are sick individuals but dont lump people into broad categories when you know its not true. And in my book most Marines, Soldiers, Sailors (including the Coast Guard), and Airmen are a little better than most people. If for no other reason because they defend morons like you so you can say negative things about them. Enjoy the freedom they provide.

Just because a few scum bags did something doesn't mean the marines are all bad. They are paying for it. Because the assholes who did these types of things put other marines in danger. The iraqis get upset and they go around killing other marines who had nothing to do with it.

You need to do your homework. There are Marines being investigated/charged/tried for two incidents involving the killing of non-combatants, both terrible crimes.

The rape incident, however, was committed by an Army squad.

Maybe you should take the time to verify your facts before you publicly display your ignorance like this.

I really hate it when a question includes all sorts of false information disguised as a question.

Marines accused of rape and murder in Iraq are being charged, and if found guilty will be punished as their justice system decrees.

The marines are predominant because the Marines are the best force we have there, and they are assigned to the most dangerous duty.

although i don't fully understand your question here is your answer. some marines have a hard time distinguishing between pride and ego, confidence and *********, honor and power. there should be a more advance screening process for these so-called "few and proud." many depend on these men and far too many get disappointed in the end, including parents, siblings, spouses, and their children. there are more victims of their heinous acts of violence than we know. i personally am disgusted by it and am surprised that more citizens are not up in arms over these acts. a 12 year old girl's life isn't worth more or less depending on geography, why do we turn other way and act as such then?
