well 11 people ore on offensive and defence. the quaterback is behind the center then says hike or hut and either gives it to the running back(half back) who runs the ball of the wide reciver who goes for a pass or he keps it for himself. The fullback gets the ball for short yard runs. the defence tackle the player and stops them from getting the ball or first down ot a touch down. a TD is 6 point a point after TD is 1 and a Field goal is 3 an saftey(tackles offence in the other teams endzone) 2 points. a first down is 10 yards there are 4 downs if you dont get a 1st down you can punt it to the other team. the best team in the NFL in is the Bears and the best in NCAA is ohio state. that is most of the basics about football TALLEST HSHE IS TALKING ABOUT FOOTBALL NOT SOCCOR DUMB TURD

Football is easy. You have 4 tries, or downs, to go 10 yards. If you dont make it in those 4 downs, then its the other teams ball. Most teams punt on forth down so that the other team isnt close to the goal they have to score in. A touchdown gives a team 6 points. A PAT(Point After Touchdown) gives a team 1 point, and a field goal gives you 3 points.

Um, guys? I think you're missing the point. I'm pretty sure that KiKi is talking about football as in soccer, hence the catergory name Women's premiere Leagues under Football (SOCCER), and not american football. I'd suggest checking out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soccer for the complicated thecnical information, or here http://www.gurl.com/findout/guides/pages/0,,670735,00.html for a fun girl-centered take on the sport with easier-to-understand explainations to rules and positions.

Hope this helped! Have fun and enjoy football (soccer), it's a wonderful sport.

Football, (the best game in the world) is played by two teams, of 11 players each,on a rectangular grass field.
The object of the game is to score by kicking or heading the ball into the opposing goal. Only the goal keepers of each team are allowed to touch the ball with their hands and only within the penalty area.
The ball is put into play by any of the following means:
# Kick-off: following a goal by the opposing team, or to begin each period of play.
# Throw-in: when the ball has wholly crossed the touchline; awarded to opposing team to that which last touched the ball.
# Goal kick: when the ball has wholly crossed the goal line without a goal having been scored and having last been touched by an attacker; awarded to defending team.
# Corner kick: when the ball has wholly crossed the goal line without a goal having been scored and having last been touched by a defender; awarded to attacking team.
# Indirect free kick: awarded to the opposing team following "non-penal" fouls, certain technical infringements, or when play is stopped to caution/send-off an opponent without a specific foul having occurred.
# Direct free kick: awarded to fouled team following certain listed "penal" fouls.
# Penalty kick: awarded to the fouled team following a "penal" foul occurring in their opponent's penalty area.

Currently, the best football players in the world come from SOuth America (Brazil, Argentina), Europe(Spain, Italy, UK, Germany) and to a lesser extent Africa (Nigeria, Cameroon, Senegal).
The strongest, most lucrative domestic leagues in the world are English Premier League, Spanish Premiere Liga, the Italian Seria A and the German Bundesliga. These leagues features the worlds top players and dominant football clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool(UK), Real Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia(Spain), AC Milan, Inter Milan, Yuventus, Lazio(italy), Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund(Germany) just to name a few.
Man Utd 4 EVER!!!

Football is not just a sport.. its a way of life!!! Nothing will teach you the game more than watching it live!!

PS: I believe there is nothing sexier than a girl who would sit down and watch a game of football with her guy!!! Its the thought that counts :D

I know you didn't say you want to play football, you just want to learn more about it, but................

I have to ask, I know girls breasts are very sensitive, so how can girls take getting hit, hard, in the chest, and slammed to the ground playing football. I'm all for girls playing sports, specifically pretty girls, but I don't get how girls can say how sensitive their bodies are one minute, then want to play football the next. Basketball makes sense, but football is all about blasting bodies as hard as possible, making people to cartwheels in the air and landing on their necks.

I suggest starting at the basics of the game.
Read this article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_football
Another great site is NFL.com
You could also ask most guys about the game and probably get more than you want to know.
Good luck and huddle up.
