Time heals all wound ..
You'll never forget you're first anything because it was just that, your FIRST.
BUt at the same time, if he's saying he'll never forget her for reasons OTHER than being his first, then there's something to worry about.

Funny you should ask. Today I ran into someone who knows my first love. I had warm feelings when thinking about him but that's it. You never get over the memories, for they awakened a part of me that I never knew existed, but I was only 16 at the time.
I am now married to a wonderful man who means the world to me. My first love was special, only because he was the first. My husband and I share true love, which is beyond anything I've ever known in a relationship.
You will meet the true love of your life, but you'll always remember the first one. They don't call it the "first" for no reason.

I got over my first love. I don't ever need, or want, to see him again, but he does hold a special place in my heart. The line is more like: You never forget your first love. There's a huge difference in not forgetting and not getting over.
3 months is not that long ago. If he almost left you for her it's because he still has unresolved feelings for her - it doesn't matter if it's his first love or not. He's using that as his excuse.
You may need to cut your losses on this one.
*****Okay - I looked at your profile and saw that you keep asking the same questions about your boyfriend. You obviously aren't taking the advice given to you. What's the point in asking over and over?

Haven't gotten over my first true love. It's been 2 years as of August. I've dated, but can't seem to fall for anyone.

See what I mean (see prior question, 5 minutes ago). You aren't looking for real advice, you are just posting stream of consciousness for some sort of personal catharsis. Buy a diary.

Well, yes. He's preparing you. Telling you he still likes her, and is trying to let you down easy.
ESPECIALLY, if as you say, he still talks to her, and "almost" left you three months ago for her.
