Yes, My Docotr said I wasn't ovulating because I was overweight and I KNEW I was because I had been charting the whole time..... I am now at 26 weeks and going strong! This is my standard answer......... go get a book called Taking Charge of your fertility by Toni Weschler
This book will help you with all of your menstrual and conception questions. It’s for all women - not just women trying to conceive. It covers everything from temperature to mucus checking, etc.. It will help you understand your body and all the myths about it. It will help you time when you are ovulating and the best times to conceive – or not! It tells you how to figure out your cycle and what to expect. My husband and I tried for a year to conceive and nothing happened. The first month I used the book we conceived right away. Now I am due Feb 2. It's about knowing your body and knowing when you are fertile or not. You can pick and choose what you do with your info. Good luck and don't listen the all the myths!

You can still get pregnant and have a very healthy baby. It is recommended to lose weight first before actively trying, because some complications can arise. Also you would only gain about 10-15 pounds (give or take) depending, being overweight, rather than the 25-35 of average women, but the baby could still be healthy. Good luck to you.

Yes, you can!! Just keep working at it. Plan time to be together alot a week after your period.

Attempting to lose a little weight can't hurt, especially for the purpose of delivering your next child.

My wife lost Alot of weight after having our two children. She did not follow any diets.

She used her own method of no longer eating junk foods, no eating out at fast food places, staying away from all sodas and coffee, staying away from white rice which is very fattening, and walking 1 hour a day.
She said to me that all those other diets she tried just wouldn't work and we couldn't afford all their premade meals.

You can still get pregnant even if you are overweight, it just makes it easier for the dellivery to lose wt. and better for your overall self-esteem.
My wife lost weight for herself, not for me.
I love her no matter what she weighs. This is the Way unconditional Love is!!! Last thought, if you still can not get pregnant over a long period of time, maybe your new husband should go get checked out by his doctor. It may possibly be something on his end.

I dont think a weight issue really has anything to do with getting pregnat. Sometimes the man is the problem my hubby was taking something for his add and i never did get preg and the month after he stop taking the stuff i was preg go figure. If either of you take certain meds this could be a problem talk with a dr.

I am sorry to hear you're having difficulty conceiving. There could be several reasons your not able to conceive. Many woman experience something called secondary infertility, meaning once being able to conceive but, are having problems now. Weight gain, unless extreme is not the culprit. Other reasons may include but, not limited to your age, low sperm count, hormone levels, and incapatibility, reproductively with your new husband. Some people believe it or not are allergic for lack of a better term to one another reproductively and have difficulty conceiving. Also, because you are still menstruating does not mean you are producing eggs. I advise you to go to your GYN. & discuss it with them. It may be something more simple then you think.

Hmm? New husband? Four prior healthy births? I'd guess you should be looking at the new husband for a more likely cause. On the other hand, if you're approaching mid-to-late 40's, it's possible you're pre-menopausal and just not as fertile as you once used to be.
It may be time to consult a fertility expert. I think 18 months is enough time.

I am overweight, and it seems like all it takes is for my husband to just touch me to get pregnant. I have a 2 year old and a six month old and miscarried once in between them. While weight could be part of your problem, you didn't say your age... that might have something to do with it as well.

Good luck!

Keep in mind that as you get older you ovulate less ofter and excesive weight can also slow ovulation. Get healthy (not skinny, healthy) and then after trying f(or 1 year if under 34) or (for 6 months if over 35) and still not pregnant then see your OB/GYN. They can give you a pill that can cause ovulation, and continued treatment if that doesn't work.
Best of luck!

I do not believe that weight has an issue with getting pregnant, I have a niece who is pretty overweight and she just had a baby this month. So keep trying and if it is meant to be it will happen.

It all depends on how overweight you are. If you are under 250 or 300 lbs then you shouldn't have problems getting pregnant. If you are over 300 lbs then you might want to consult a doctor. Wow you have four kids and want another? Good luck to you.
