Try finding a hobby I hear that painting is very relaxing. If you like classical music try listening to that it not only relaxes you but can also increase your i.q. When I'm feeling depressed I like to take warm bubble baths with only candles lit while listening to classical music..it may sound like to much but I feel so relaxed and better afterwards.

I had depression most of my life. I didn't know it, I thought everyone felt that way, and other people were better at thinking themselves into a good mood. When I was diagnosed with depression, I wasn't real surprised, but I did not believe a medicine could make me feel better. I also thought therapy was a bunch of crap. A job someone made up to make money.
For nearly 3 years I have not been depressed, it is the strangest feeling. It's beautiful, wonderful. I don't wake up and stay sad all the time. Previosly, I could become happy, but saddness was my usual state. My doctor tried a medicine, I thought it was working because I was deeply depressed less often. I was on it for 3 years. But once they switched me to a different (SSRI) medicine, I realized for the first time what depression entailed, because it was the first time it went away. I was 29 then.
There are many many depression medications, and they work differently on everyone. So it can be discouraging. They just keep trying different meds until they find the one for you. It will take several weeks to take affect, and a couple months for you to tell if you're moods are different. Some will make you feel worse, some may make you sick (nausea), but if you are constantly depressed, and have been over a period of years, medicine works. It's so wonderful to not feel that way anymore. My doctor helped me get Medicaid for my depression so I could afford to be treated, it took a year though. Just hang in there while they try diffrent medications. For a temporary fix, but on some music that has made you feel upbeat and happy in the past. No dark music, even if that's what you like, and nothing that reminds you of a time period that you miss.

Has something happened lately to cause this onset of depression? Once when I moved far away from friends and family I became depressed. I discovered ways to help. Personally for me, God helped alot. Prayer can be relaxing. If you're not into prayer...try meditation. Just breath deeply at least once a day for five minutes. It lets your mind relax from thinking. Just focus on the air moving in and out of your lungs. Also exercise does wonders. Not only is it good for your body but it helps the mind produce more happy feelings. Also you might try a new hobby. I learned to sew...it sounds like an old woman hobby, but i'm only 21 and I love it. one more tip is you might try helping other people out. Organize or help out with a food drive. Helping other people with problems can sometimes make yours go away. If your depression gets to the point where you think about suicide please talk to someone....a family member...a friend...a doctor. Hope this helps! Oh and one more thing....always remember...things DO get better.

Go to your doctor and get some meds. It will take a few weeks to start to feel better. But you will.

...keep yourself busy. Find a friend to talk to, keep a hobby. I find myself going into one too.
