No it won't permanently straighten it. Just keep using a good flat iron I like Chi. Use good conditioners, and get regular trims. Your hair will not dry up and fall off from the flat iron! I have bleach on my hair for an hour and a half every month to touch up my roots and I use a flatiron 2 or 3 times a week (whenever I shampoo) and my hair is perfectly healthy looking because I use awesome products. I recommend Graham Webb Daily Strength, Regis DesignLine Cashmere or StraightPressed, or Joico K-Pak. With the K-pak deep treatment though do not use it more than once a week or your hair will protein over load and feel crusty!

The best thing I can suggest, that won't risk your hair falling out, is to go to a Salon and have your hair "relaxed". Last I heard a price for it, it was Cheap. It may be like 20-30 dollars now though. Every few months you can have them do that.
What they do is they use things that are to take out Perms and to stableize hair for recovery from damageing products,.. only this works on Naturally Curly hair as well. It will not make your hair Poker Straight,.. how straight it will become depends on how long you can tolerate just sitting around with stuff in your hair and how tight your natural curls are. So it may not be as straight as you were hopeing for. On someone with tight but not the super tight, tightest curls,.. it makes the hair have periodic curls/waves that are large enough you can stick your fist in,.. like the hair people have been trying to get for about 40 years now,.. maybe longer,.. that big curl at the end of the original Barbie doll XD Your hair would be very soft, a little shiney,.. and attract strangers hands some how. I think when you have this treatment you do not wash your hair for a couple days.
Added After I First Posted: Oh Ya,.. I also have a tip for you. When you get out of your Shower or Bath,.. DO NOT BLOW DRY,.. do not try to dry your hair really well. Immediately head over to your Comb and Comb your hair out,.. you might want to do that a couple more times as your hair dries (slowly, because Hair Dryers will make your hair curl). This makes your hair more manageable when it dries and more straightened out (Tighttest Curly Hair dries in Ringlets).

I love girls with curly hair. My sister straightened her hair chemically and it lasted for a couple of months. I think it damaged her hair a little bit though. I say keep your curly hair unless it's for a formal event, then just straighten it temporarily.

No, but you can cause permanent damage to it by repeatedly using those kinds of harsh chemicals on it.
