I still have pics of my ex. I have absolutely no emotional attachment to him anymore, and I have been dating my current bf for 2 years, it has never caused a problem. I just dont keep them in plain view, they are in a photo album that represents a time of my life. Nothing more.

Keep? Yes. Prominently displaying them in places where your new sweetheart might have to see them often, though, is quite rude.

When I was a teenager X number of years ago, I was the kind that would destroy every shred of evidence of a relationship once it ended. Gifts went in the trash, love letters got burned, etc. I actually kind of regret that now. I was in such a hurry to forget the pain of the breakup, I forgot to allow myself to keep the good memories.

So if you've got good memories of your relationship with your ex, then by all means keep a token or two. Just take steps to make it clear to your new love that the past relationship is exactly that. (And try to make it clear that just because the relationship is past doesn't mean you can't allow yourself to be happy about the good times. That might be hard to impress on the younger set, who very much want you all to themselves, but it is important.)

I think its a good idea, because many years from the day you broke up, its nice to look back and see how much better (or worse) you have done since then.
I met a girl in Galesburg, ill., back in 1945. Yeah, that far back! We dated while i was there in the Army hospital. But we broke up when i shipped out! I got several letters from her, last one giving me her married name! Oh, well, win some-lose some!
Before i left, she gave me a picture of herself, as a keep-sake.
So, i still have it-stuffed away in a drawer-look at it seldom, but it brings back memories! I have other pictures from way back, too. Always nice to look at them-shows how handsome i was way back then!

I think it is o. k. to keep pictures of an ex, as long as you don't use them to cause trouble for any one else. You were in this relationship and i am sure you had some good times together, and having pictures will remind you of the good times, and let you forget the not so happy times.

Sure, just don't have them framed up on the wall for your new significant other to see. It takes time to let go. Just put your pics aside in a safe place for you to access whenever you like. When you have found someoone that you really love, honor, and respect, you'll know how to better deal with your past/

Yes, it's okay. Even if you can't keep a picture, you still have memories that won't ever wash away. No one can stop you from doing what you want to do!

Of course it is okay!! Your ex girlfriend or boyfriend, was obviously once a very big part of your life, and if you still want to hold on to those memories, its your choice. Nobody is telling you not too!

No! It is not okay at all. this is only going to hurt your gf or bf's feelings. it means that you must still feel something for you're ex, and it is not fair at all.
