A high level adapter is better known as a "line level converter", but TBone's right.

There are no RCA outputs on the back of your Cherokees stereo. However you can use a high level adapter to convert from the high output of the stereo to a lower output your amp will like. There are lots of company's that make them. I have had great luck with a company called PAC. Their adapters model number is SNI-35. In most area's its about $20.00

TBone and Sparky are right.

In addition you don't want to do like the other guy and use the factory wiring for the stock amp to wire up an aftermarket amp.

Most likely the aftermarket amp will require beefier wiring (power wires) and most factory setups use the bare minimum to cut down on costs.

I have a 98 jeep grand Cherokee Laredo and had a CD player and am/fm radio put in and only needed a different mounting bracket. I can't say about an amplifier.
