Depends. In laboratory values, each laboratory has its own numbers. Usually, between 200,000 and 300,000 platelets is considered normal

I don't know, but if your platelets are low your blood is less able to clot which makes you a high risk for surgery. They're giving you the right advice.

At the lab that I work at 150-450m per ul. is normal. I have idiopathic thrombocytopenia purpura which causes me to have constant and critically low platelets. If you have any more platelet questions PDSA.org is a great website.

it means that your blood wouldnt clot like it is supposed to.....the chances of bleeding out would increase.....they wont do the surgery until your platelet count is up so that there wont be any uncontrolable bleeding.
