My husband has been on parole for two years. He has had ZERO problems, been working full time, etc. He should even be eligible for early discharge. This morning our neighbor called saying my husband's new parole officer, whom my husband has not yet met, was at the door and the house was surrounded by six police cars and several officers. We had both already gone to work.
My sister, who has dealt with parole officers, said they were probably going to raid the house. I have no idea why, but oh well. I want to know what my rights are. My sister said they can keep me and my daughter there for hours while they search and keep us from work and school. She said they did that to her. I don't care if they search the house because we have nothing to hide, but I have never been late to work in ten years, and my daughter has never had an absence or tardy in her seven years of school. Can they detain me while they search? I am not the one on parole.

Your husband has given up his fourth amendment rights and therefore has no say. Neither do you. Get a lawyer, write the governor, file a complaint against the officer and don't be afraid of retaliation because you have to be there when all conversations are given. We presently live in a police state, Our rights are being slowly destroyed.

As a probationer/parolee you give up a lot. Sounds like you should consult with an attorney to make sure that your rights are being protected. If they are within the scope of the search you'll just have to grin and bear it.

It will depend on the state, most times no they can't detain you, but may ask to have you searched before releasing you.

And yes it most likely would be a raid, unless they were going to viollate him for some reason and had come to get him
