I am getting married in July and I am searching for my dress. There's no hurry, but I'm having fun looking. At first I had a lady who offered to make a hemp wedding dress for me, but she fell through so now I'm just looking for a simple white sundress type of thing. (If it's made of hemp, that's a big plus for me.) If anyone might know where I can find a kind of dressy sundress that I might possibly even be able to wear at occasions after the wedding, please let me know or leave me a link to the site. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Also, I'm not looking for a run of the mill thing like at Alfred Angelo/David's Bridal. I'm specifically trying to find something like hemp/organic fabric that will be good for the environment, and would really like something that can be reworn so it's not a lot of money spent on a dress for just a couple of hours.

Any seamstress should be able to make you a dress with this material they have.

Here's another: http://www.getconscious.com/

And another: http://threadheadcreations.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=TC&Category_Code=bridal

Wow, these dresses are NOT cheap! They're a lot plainer than my dress was and cost hundreds more! Wow!

Best of luck!

I know many people say David's Bridal but I would not recommend them. I recently had a really bad experience with them.
1) I walked in knowing what dressed I wanted to try on (found on-line) but they said I had to have an apt. Maybe they should say that on there front door.
2) The consultant that helped me tried to order me a dress that barely fit. After reviewing pictures that I took I noticed it was WAY to TIGHT in the back. I went back spoke w/management and got to order the next size up.
3) Took my Maid of Honor & Bridesmaid w/me to also try on dresses to coordinate the styles & colors. The consultant had a very difficult time doing so because of the size of my girls. Ended up getting their dresses at Elegant Lace (San Jose).
3) Picked up my dress & wanted to try it on and they said I had to have an apt.
4) I will defenetly get alterations done elsewear.

J crew. When I was looking for a simple dress I found buches there that would have worked. Now I am locked in to something very elaborate, but I still like to look at there website. Here is a link to their wedding page. But if you are looking for very simple go look at the sundresses. They should be on clearence right now & I almost bought one last year for $30

I just opened a new online custom bridal shop! If you have a pic of a dress you want, I can do it for you!

Check out the site too, I have some styles! A lot of them on the site may not be what you are looking for, but I do have pics of the style you are describing.

www.ifthedressfits.com (the site)
ifthedressfits (YAHOO ID for IM)
info@ifthedressfits.com (questions)

I'm sure I can definitely help you out! Add me to your contacts for Yahoo messenger and we can chat, if you are interested

Congrats to you!
It has been two years since I got married, but I purchased my wedding gown, my maid and matron of honor dresses, and my shoes from EBay. If you are not looking to spend a lot of money (my wedding was in July also) then check out www.ebay.com. You will be surprised at what you can find there! Good luck!

Honey, you are going to be better off having this custom made.

These dresses are not made by the masses because this is not a very common request for brides. Typically, the whole point of the wedding dress is to have it worn once -- that is part of what makes it special.

I think that you will find yourself spending a lot of money for a dress that is specially done and the chances of you wearing it again are slim. People are going to be like, "Hey, nice dress. Where did you get it?" Are you going to say "Oh yeah, it is my wedding dress." Not likely, and if you are going to say that, I hate to tell you that people are going to be like "Oh." And actually think that you are lunatic.

No insults meant, just trying to be honest.

Very cool & Congrats.

You can also check out e-bay - they have a section under "Clothing" where there are people who will do custom work. That might be an option if the sites others have suggested don't work for you.

Or consider buying a "used" dress - that way it doesn't take any new resources ...

You are going to save a fortune. Try the links below, I didn't see one dress over $100. Good luck

Congratulations on your pending nuptials!

Try places where you love to shop and resale shops-depending upon where you live there may be a bridal resale shop in your area where your dream dress is waiting for you.

Also try eBay-they are a great source for one of a kind things. Vintage shops are also a good idea to check. Specialty shops on the islands who are also online may be another good bet for you :-)

think outside the square & look in all sorts of shops; or look around for another dressmaker
GREAT that you are thinking about being able to wear your outfit again - it will always re-create memories of your day.

GOOD LUCK
