I think they like the crinkling noise. My cat always sits in boxes. Even if the box is too small, he tries to cram his big butt in there.

my 7mo kitten loves to sit in, sleep in, attack, chew, and parade around like a caped superman with her head through the handles of whatever bags i bring home. (i always keep an eye on her). I believe it's the noise she likes because she'll come running from the other room if I crackle it, and then she's entertained for a good while...hours if she finds the bag at 3am :( she also loves to try to catch the bag if i throw it up in the air so it floats down american-beauty-style.
cats just seem to love small spaces, interesting noises, and things that don't cost money despite the loads of toys you buy them. they also apparently intuitively know exactly where on the page of the magazine you are reading. it's their pleasure to help you by graciously covering up those nasty annoying words with a furry bum. but thats another question:)

It is a little known fact that a function of magnetism known as the Katzen effect comes into play in the presence of felines. Most known elements do not respond to this. However, ingredients in plastic, whalebone shirts, and falafel are highly impacted by this magnetism. Cats find themselves irresistably drawn to these objects, and the Katzen effect is known to increase drowsiness. Physics once again explains a modern phenomenon!

I hope this helps!

My cats (all three) do the same thing. They have a square shaped box-like toy they play in too. Also I get the newspaper delivered and they are in plastic wrap bags and they love those. I also have those cat box liners that have wholes for the clean litter to funnel through, and they are plastic and they love those. I must be the noise!

they sleep on plastics bags as they like the noise of what it makes. my cat loved playing in the plastic bags as she loved the noise she could make!

if you want to make it safe for a cat to play with bags get a few plastic bags and put them in a cushion cover, its still got the noise but its a nicer sight and more comfier!

My kittys love this aswell, think it must be the noise and feeling of it. My cat runs inside the bag then slides all over floor with it (still inside) she's a nutter. They fall asleep on them aswell.
They also like lying on magazines/newspapers.
I know i'd much rather lie on a big comfy bed.

cats are funny creatures i wish my four would sleep on them they go to the toilet on them for some reason even though they have a litter tray no matter where i put the bags they find them and drag them out. maybe its just a cats nature to like plastic as mine love empty juice bottles.

I think they like the warmth and the slipperiness of them. My kitty loves to get inside a plastic bag (after I've cut the handles, of course!) and then be slid around the kitchen floor. She hangs on like grim death but seems to enjoy every minute!

That's why cats are called curious. My cat is intrigued by the dvd tray when it pops out. She will sit on top of the entertainment center for hours, just waiting for it to open again.

The crinkly crackly noise? Mine like sheets of paper for some reason, even ones that are single sheets lying flat on a hard surface.
