Haven't they started doing that 10 years ago already?
Honestly I thought it was public knowledge by now! It is true however that the debate is still on since implanting a chip in people is a step beyond the 1984 "Big Brother" concept... Of course it would enable certain things to run more smoothly and whatnot, but it would also mean no more privacy, no more anonymity, etc...
There are alot of people out there right now already with a chip in them. I guess they are the "prototypes" to see how far the range of tracking can go to...
Cheers!

Only if the person was, for some reason, not able to care for himself or herself and prone to wandering(example: Alzheimer's patient) or prison inmates. To microchip anyone else would be Big Brotherish and conveys a lack of trust of humankind.

I think it could be used in a positive way.Criminals especially child molesters could be monitored to be sure they are not lurking around playgrounds or schools. That's just one example and there are plenty more, however it could have negative uses as well it all depends on how responsible we are with the technology we've developed.

I didn't like the idea when they started doing so years ago in the military. And I don't like the idea now.

HELLO Big Brother! I think if it only contained medical information I would not be as concerned, but then do you have it removed when medical issues change?
