No way. She's too young to be worried about that stuff already. Be careful - that's showing sign on insecurity. Keep an eye on her that it doesn't somehow work it's way into an eating disorder. I would be concerned that she is concerned at such a young age.
Also, she may still grow height wise and they will re-proportion her weight.
Perhaps encourage her to do more activities like sports or something. Not as a way to lose weight, but to keep active, and healthy. As a result, she may lose a bit of weight or tone up. this will teach her a healthy way to approach her self-image rather than dieting at that age.

No that's ridiculous. You don't want to mess with growing. That is normal. You should teach her good eating habits and nutrition. And focus on HEALTH...heart health. Staving off future diabetes or thyroid problems, having good cholesterol, blood pressure, etc. Not focus on the outside. Exercise is GOOD for her, do teach her that. Weight lifting, just laying on the floor and lifting legs, doing crunches and stuff, Aerobics in the living room, walking, jogging around a track. If she is that concerned, join a sports team. But don't FOCUS on the weight. You will set her up in life for eating problems like anorexia, Body dismorphic disorder, low self esteem, bulimia, etc.

No she should not. She is borderline thin for her height.
For a female 5'2''-5'3'' she should be around 118-125 lbs.
For her heath sake she should not try to loose weight. If she wants to tone her muscles and loose fat, It would be wise to consult a nutritionalist to set a goal for her health and an exercise regime. Good Luck and tell her she should be proud of what she looks like no matter how much she weighs.

I really don't think that is bad it really depends on your height not your age.I think shes the perfect weight . I it whatever extra couple pounds she does gain or lose i would wait till about 16 to determine if weight loss is needed . She may gain more or lose it when she is done with puberty . You never know I was always the chunky one . Not fat but heavy when i was her age. Now four children later I am smaller now than i was when i had my first child. I depends on the person.

I would let her know she is perfect the way she is .. kids may make her feel pressured into specially with they way society is about image .. I have a 10 year old son .. he is 5'3 and weighs in at 149 .. I have asked his doctor about putting him on a more strict diet and he tells me no .. he says just watch the sugar and bread intake and make sure he excercises plenty .. well he plays football, baseball, bmx, likes to swim, skateboards, rides quads and dirtbikes .. he get tons of excercise .. I would tell her like another person responded with .. if you want to tone up your body more, then more excercise and don't eat the junk food ..:)

that's a great and healthy weight. it's a dangerous road that she is going down if she already thinks she's too heavy. i would talk to your family doctor. on the other hand, there's nothing wrong with her taking up a reasonalbe exercise program and eating a healthful diet (but she shouldn't be "on a diet"). maybe the two of you could go for a walk together every evening and could try to eat more fruits and vegetables.

No. There is the possibility that she will lose too much weight and then become unhealthy. She should wait a few years, once she's finished growing, and even then should consult a doctor about her weight, and whether or not it's healthy.

No, she does need to. She is still growing and is not actually overweight for her age and height, although she should try to maintain her weight. She is going to fill out and continue to develop in the next few years and if she starts dieting, it could affect her growth/development. Just encourage her to eat healthily and get involved with sports. HTH : )

Probably not a good idea until she's finished her growth. I don't all that much about female growth, but I can be fairly certain she will grow a few inches taller so she probably is best not to lose weight.
