Well duh. They exist now depending on you definition. There is an airplane that the back will can off of and can be driven down the street like a normal car. A TV show built a hover car out of a delorian. And if you whatch history channal there is a company that strapped four jet engins to a sid of a car. Ford looked at it but was uninterested. The problem is not the technology it is the fact that people allready have trouble in two dimentions try 3. O and there is a parashut thing with a fan that goes for 50,000 dolars in Euope that is street legal. So that is one buy it has no wings. And needs a airport but a small one only. That company will go into production if it can find enough costomers.

And for the other guy, the earth will be destroyed by the sun turning into a red giant in 11 billion years, or was it million.

No, but maybe if their is a need. Especially in the US because cars in America are tradition. I can see flying cars in Europe and Asia because their isnt very much room for cars. They could do it for practicality. What I can see is cars that drive themselves. On the freeways, traffic and accidents only occur because people dont know how to drive. If cars were driven by computer, they can be one foot from each other and go 100+ mph. Same thing in Minority Report and iRobot.

I think in 50years hovercraft type vehicles will be common. In 100 years if we make it we will be higher in the air. I don't think it will be like the Jetsons though

Much before that, but they won't be cars. We will no longer need the wheel.
