You can get them for about $50 adoption fee from your local ASPCA and they'll have all their shots and neutering done already.

I think dogs cost a lot. The price of dogs varies. The price of dogs varies because of where you live and the type of dog you buy. Of course mix dogs are cheaper than purebred dogs. Where I live a toy dogs cost more than a big dogs. From my experience you can get a purebred dog for at least $300 but that does not mean quality. On the Internet, I have seen some dogs cost as much as $2000. However, it is not wise to buy a dog advertise on the Internet (switch and bait). The price of a dog is usually how much people in society value that particular dog. Once you buy a dog, you have to spend a lot of money at the vet (preventive care and dental). Also, you have to spend money on feeding and grooming them too. The bigger the dog the more expensive it will be to feed your dog. Dogs with long hair are more expensive to groom than dogs with short hair. The cost of a dog is almost like the cost of taking care of a small child.

As has already been noted, the cost of buying or adopting a dog can vary greatly, from nothing at all to fairly inexpensive (at a shelter, for example) to quite a chunk of change for a quality purebred dog from a reputable breeder. Really depends on what you want - but! Do be sure to also consider the costs of keeping your dog once you've got one: vet bills, food, toys, grooming, boarding when you're out of town, etc.

I'd estimate that my 60lb mixed breed goes through about 14 16-lb bags of dogfood in a year, at about $15 per bag, so there's $210/year. Vet bills come out to another $100-200 most years (although there can be emergencies! My dog had to have two root canals when she was 4, costing me about $1500 right there). I get a "come to your house" pet-sitter when I'm out of town, costing me about $25/30 per day ... and I don't even WANT to think about how much I spend on doggie toys =)

My point is to be sure you consider the ongoing expenses of dog ownership in addition to just how much you'll have to pay to adopt one in the first place. I wouldn't trade my dog for all the money in the world, but I will admit that if I didn't have her, then a lot more of the money in the world would belong to me ;) If money is a major factor in your decision to get a dog, just don't let these types of expenses take you by surprise.

It depends on where you get them. Some range from free all the way too $3000. I got my two female dogs from an animal rescue for only $130.
Do some research if you're interested on getting a dog.

it depends on what kind of dog you want and who you get it from and most of all how old it is when u get it...we got my lab for like $700 when she was a puppy then we got another lab when he was around 1 or 2 and he was only $500 which was actually over priced so thats just a basic idea
