Yes, spray bottle is a good way to teach kitten/cats on something that they're not supposed to do. After 2 or 3 times actually spraying onto their faces, they will know what to do by just seeing you holding the bottle or shaking the water inside the bottle.

my parents kitten gets on the furniture and claws it up and they started using the water bottle, however the kitten is super playful and finds it be a game and will run around more when you spray it. Make sure why you spray your kitten you use a stern voice with it also and say no, like you would a puppy also.

I use a spray bottle, but only when she jumps onto the counter top or something....my cat isn't really a cat that does alot of bad things so I don't really have to discipline.

I have used a water bottle and do feel that this technique is over-used. Go to: www.littlebigcat.com and read Dr. Jean Hovfe's article titled "Squirt Bottles, Punishment and Cat Behavior". The articles are in alphbetical order so it is near the end.

My kitten responds to the spray bottle and responds to the word "NO" Unfortunately, he knows better, but still jumps on the kitchen sink constantly.
I've been doing this for two months now.
It's not keeping him down. He is so curious he has to be in on everything.
What I have to do when fixing meals is put him in another room and close the door.
Hope it works for you.

I actually used a Super Soaker because one of my cats is a hard head and the spray bottle didn't bother her in the least.

I used a squirt gun and a pill bottle with buttons in it. When she would do what I did not want her to do I would either squirt her, or I would toss the bottle in her direction (NOT at her). It worked really well and she is very well behaved... for a cat ;)

I used to use one to get my cat off the table, and to stop clawing the couch... It worked for a little while...but my cat is pretty persistent. Eventually he would see me grab the bottle and he would just crouch low and squint his eyes and meow pitifully as I squirted him. I guess he just doesn't care anymore.
my other cat though, he runs when he hears it, so each cat is different, I guess.
Hopefully your cat will respond better! :)

Yes. I use a squirt bottle and it works well. In fact, I can mimic the squirting noise with my mouth and the cat will react as if she had just been squirted. Pretty funny to watch!

Yes I have. I hated doing it, but there were times when it just was the most effective means of discipline with out harming the cats. It will really get to the point where you just have to show it to them, and it will deter them from any undesirable behavior.
