Panting, restlessness, turning circles, whining, scratching the rug to make a bed, etc..Sometimes the eyes will get red and watery.
I have a tip that has never failed me.. I offer a teat that they really like, such as real chicken..and if they eat it and ask for more, they won't have pups for at least 6 hours..If they refuse it or only nibble it, call in sick..
Here is a great illustrated sit to help you with mom and puppies> http://www.thepetcenter.com/gen/whelping.html.

If a dog is going into labor, she may refuse to eat and begin to try and find a quite place to hide, and her temp will drop.If you have a large cardboard box put her in it in a quite place and line with newspaper on floor. As her contractions get harder and close to time of expelling a pup,she will start tearing the newspaper, scratching and acting very nerveous. When contracts become closer together she will start breathing harder,or maybe appear to be hot with panting. If she is doing all the above, she is most definately in labor if close to her due date. After contractions begin,a pup should be born within 45 minutes to 1 hour, give or take a few minutes. If a pup isn't born within this time frame, call your vet,as a pup could be blocked,or too big for her to have.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://biturl.im/aU7OE
A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

Her temperature will start to fall usually under 99 degrees, (to check get a thermometer and take it rectally.) she will pant a lot and seem like she can't get comfortable.

Did you see the neighbor's dog nailing your dog? Thats one sign.... heavy panting and needing to be alone may be another.
