I know a doctor that studies psychiatric drugs used during pregnancy. She recommends that the depression be treated during pregnancy but the dose may need to compensate for her pregnant metabolism. She is Dr Kathy Wisner currently of UPMC (the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center).

A lack of melatonin can contribute to depression. If you add more tomatoes, rice, and ginger to your diet it helps your body to produce more melatonin. It may help. Is good, also, to ask the Dr. for suggestions on alternative medicines. Everything should be okayed with the Dr.

There are some natural antidepression herbs. You should go to a health food store and check it out. My sister was taking some, (Saint John's Wart) they worked pretty good. Take care :)
