Like an angry bee, memory of harm repeatedly stings. But when we cultivate compassionate toward those who have harmed us, we remove the stinger from the flesh and the mind.

Sounds like a load of crap to me. If a burglar broke into my house and killed my wife I wouldn't give a toss what drove him to it. Understanding and empathizing with his tormented life wouldn't take the pain of my loss away. Anyone who claims that they forgive people who commit atrocities against them is a coward who is hiding from their own pain because they cannot deal with it.

Seeing that a bee can only sting once, and any B.... that stung me would not get a second chance, I would suggest that once I had removed the stinger from the flesh, it (the sting) would remain in my mind, but the B.... that did it would be promptly forgotten.

Therefore, my opinion is, the statement is Hokum..........

It's not about cultivating compassion for the bee, it's about learning the lesson. When you extract the message from the bee sting, it won't be presented again for another go at you!

Sounds like the same lesson Jesus taught about turning the other cheek. If you live in the past, you're not living in the present and negating your future.

Peace.

Wisdom my friend!Anger has power over you. If you forgive and show compassion, it takes the power away from anger.
