Get a car that is cheaper to insure. A 1995 Toyota Corolla may not be a sizzling hot car, but it's cheaper to insure than a 2004 Honda Civic. I don't know what car you have but some cars just cost a lot more for insurance.
Otherwise, increase your deductible, eliminate collision coverage and avoid getting traffic tickets. Some insurance companies will lower your rates if you are a non-smoker and if you take a driving safety class. Ask your insurance company about those, or for any other ways to lower your insurance.

You can get a good student discount, you also may get a discount for anti lock brakes and good credit. They also take into consideration any tickets and how many points you have. If you drive under 5000 miles per year ( or say you do) they may be able to lower you to a pleasure commute instead of short or long. If you have had insurance for more than 6 months you also get a prior insurance discount. Since you are a male your insurance rates will automatically be higher until you turn 25 or get married. It is all based on statistics, therefore legal. Also take into consideration the kind of car you drive, they really look at that too. If you have taken any defensive driving courses this may also give you a discount. If you have auto insurance you can get renters insurance extra cheap to cover your belongings from theft or fire ect. as low as 5$ per month. If you live with a girlfriend or family member, and they have better credit or record they can be the first named insured therefore cost you less money. Something to think about...

Unfortunately, at your age, there is very little you can do to lower your rates. You might try calling the insurance company and asking about a higher deductible amount for your collision and/or comprehensive coverages. That would lower your rate somewhat.
The only other thing you could do is get married, but I hardly think it's worth it!

Dear gawd, are you driving a sports car, SUV or truck.
Go and buy yourself a used 4 door sedan, one that is cheap to fix. This will lower your insurance rate.
And find out what the savings would be if you raised your deductible to $2000 (if your car loan company will let you). You might be able to save the $2k in a few months at the rates you are paying now.
Wow, and I whine about my rates. I'll shut up now.

If you have a family member in another area, such as long island or a little upstate, have one of your bills go there and then change your address. Insurance depends greatly on where you live. Bronx, Queens, Manhattan are all very expensive.

There are a few things you can do: raise your deductible (don't do it over $1000), take out non-essentials like medical expense coverage and/or rental reimbursement. Just know that if you're in an accident, you'll have to pay for a rental.
