I worked at a wild life park in Nova Scotia. They actually housed the Peacocks and Phens (females) in a barn along with the other birds to keep warm through the winter. They handled it well. I wouldn't recomend leaving them out through the winter though.

Peacocks are from a warm climate and should have good warm shelter in the winter. They cannot live in sub 0 degree Celsius weather.

There are peacocks wondering around the Denver Zoo year around. I would bet that is colder in Denver than West Virginia. Therefore I would say they can take it.

Current Denver temp 21F.

My brother had a peacock living near his house in Parksville British Columbia Canada. It's not too cold here, fairly mild.

I live in central Ohio and know three families that do have pet peacocks. They are better guards than most dogs but very noisy. Fine pet to have if you hate your naighbors.
